President Trump on Saturday morning tweeted that the military strike on Syria on Friday was “perfectly executed,” and thanked France and the U.K. for their participation. He also tweeted that there will never be anything close to the United States’ “military might.”

“A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished,” he tweeted.

“So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had,” he continued. “There won’t be anything, or anyone, even close!”

On Friday night. President Trump addressed the nation in a televised news conference and announced that the United States was carrying out strategic strikes on Syria, with Britain and France, as he was speaking.

The strikes, which contained nearly double the amount of missiles as the 2017 Syrian strike, was in response to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s gassing of entire families to death last weekend in Douma and East Ghouta.

Trump stated: “I ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.”

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis held a press conference an hour after President Trump and stated that Assad’s actions were inexcusable, and he laid out the Constitutional authority that the President had to order the strike.

Shortly after the missile strike, the Russian Ambassador to the U.S. warned that there would be consequences for the strike.

The full statement reads:

“The worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard.

A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.

All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris.

Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible.

The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.”
