Sean Hannity is Trump lawyer Cohen’s secret third client, court reveals

In a highly anticipated release on Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Kimba Wood released President Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen’s third “client.”

She announced that it was Fox News’ host Sean Hannity.

Cohen and his legal team initially refused to identify Hannity and only referred to him as unnamed client in a federal court filing until Wood ordered they release the client’s name.

“We have been friends a long time. I have sought legal advice from Michael,” Hannity told the Wall Street Journal.

Hannity put out a statement on Twitter that read: “Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective.”

The other two clients that were represented by Cohen were Trump and Elliott Broidy.

Cohen’s business records were seized last week by the FBI through a warrant as part of a criminal investigation. Cohen was seeking to stop investigators from reviewing the seized documents and claimed that they are protected under lawyer-client privilege.

This is Hannity’s full statement:

“Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective. I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third party.”
