In a statement Friday night, Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov said Russia is “being threatened” and that the U.S., British and French missile strike on Syria “will not go without consequences.”

Previously, U.S. officials said that Russia was jamming U.S. drones in Syria.

Russia also said this week that any U.S. missiles fired at Syria would be shot down and the launch sites targeted.

Whether Russia follows through with its threats remains to be seen.

The Russian statement warning of consequences came shortly after the U.S., Britain and France conducted a missile strike on three targets in Syria in response to Syrian President Bashard al-Assad gassing innocent families to death.

The ambassador’s full statement reads:

“The worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard.

A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.

All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris.

Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible.

The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.”
