Three illegal aliens who managed to escape capture last month thanks to a tip-off tweet from the Oakland mayor in California were arrested on Tuesday on new charges of robbery and spousal abuse, ICE officials said, Fox News reported.

Last month, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf sent out a tweet that blew the cover of a federal immigration raid in California. Attorney General Jeff Sessions criticized the mayor’s actions and cited an agenda.

During the four-day raid, ICE captured 232 illegal immigrants, although hundreds were able to flee due to Schaaf’s warning. Many of those detained were criminals.

The three illegal immigrants most recently arrested were Mexican nationals.

One was arrested for robbery and gun crimes. He was arrested prior on an offense but was set free, despite an ICE detainer request in November 2017.

A second illegal alien was detained for a DUI. He had been deported on three separate occasions for false imprisonment charges, DUI and spousal battery.

The third was arrested for corporal injury of a spouse. He had been deported twice and had been arrested for charges including drug possession, hit-and-run, DUIs, possessions of narcotics equipment and a parole violation.

The three cases were discussed at a White House meeting on Tuesday that focused on sanctuary cities.

Acting ICE Director Tom Homan said that politicians in sanctuary states are sending mixed messages.

“We are told on one hand to focus efforts on criminals but those same folks who want to focus on criminals don’t let us into the county jails. It just defies logic,” Homan said, Fox reported.

“I do not regret sharing this information,” Oakland’s mayor said in a statement last month.

“It is Oakland’s legal right to be a sanctuary city and we have not broken any laws. We believe our community is safer when families stay together,” Schaaf said.
