I have never been a big fan of Taurus semi-auto pistols. It’s not that I don’t like the features offered or the budget prices of their handguns, but for some reason, I just do not shoot them very well. Having experience with many of the Taurus models, I have found them to be of inconsistent reliability and quality. Their customer service, which is quite busy, has a poor reputation for handling and servicing problems with their handguns. I have received several comments from viewers who complain about the amount of time it takes for the company to complete the work and return the handgun to their customers. Many also say their customer service refuses to pay for shipping, as well.

Having said that, there is a Taurus handgun that seems to have broken the mold. The Taurus PT111 G2 is a budget subcompact pistol that many people carry and trust their lives with. It is feature loaded at a budget price. The Taurus PT111 G2 once sold in the mid $200s, but in today’s market, the pistol is selling below $200 both locally (in many places) and on several online gun stores.

Many of the channel viewers told me that I need to check out the Taurus PT111 G2 and give it an honest review. I happened to stumble upon the pistol locally for $175 and figured, why not purchase it and see what all the buzz is about? After all, the pistol had nice ergonomics and came with two 12-round magazines. Additional features include a short single action trigger with double action re-strike capability, a loaded chamber indicator, a fore-end accessory rail, a 3.2-inch stainless steel barrel and a thumb safety – plus it’s a lightweight gun, at 26 ounces fully loaded.

I took the PT111 G2 to the range and I then understood why so many people favor this handgun. It shot accurately and reliably consistent. The light 5.5-pound trigger kept me on target, as the follow up shots were quick and smooth. I had no problem hitting my targets from 15 yards as I quickly settled into this gun, unlike the other Taurus handguns I have experienced.

Flash forward eight months later and much more range time with the Taurus PT111 G2, I decided make a video called “5 Reasons the Taurus PT111 G2 is Awesome.”

Check it out and let us know your thoughts and experiences with the Taurus PT111 G2.
