January 23, 2018

On Jan. 23, the Walther PPQ Sub-Compact model was released at Shot Show 2018. I was fortunate to get a hold of this smaller and lighter pistol for review prior to the Las Vegas madness. The Walther PPQ Sub-Compact is a pistol that Walther fans have wanted for years. Thousands of shooters confidently admit that the Walther PPQ is the finest polymer frame, striker-fired pistol available for around the $550 price tag. Given the popularity of the compact size Walther PPQ M2, it just made sense to create the exact same pistol with smaller dimensions to further reach out to the concealed carry market.

The Walther PPQ M2 is an incredible handgun. It embodies everything that shooters desire in a compact pistol. Walther uses a cross-directional textured grip that most shooters agree creates the best ergonomics of any handgun in today’s market. The light 5.6-pound single action trigger pull is smooth and quick with a short audible reset for fast follow-up shots. The PPQ accuracy makes an average shooter feel like a professional. The fit, feel and finish craftsmanship of the PPQ M2 is second to none.

The Walther PPQ Sub-Compact offers all of those qualities in a smaller package. The barrel on the PPQ SC is 3.5 inches. It comes with a 10-round magazine with a flush base plate and a 15-round magazine with an extended base-plate for a full three-finger grip. It features the same comfortable cross-directional grip texturing that people rave about, and the single action trigger is as light and smooth as the compact-size Walther PPQ M2.

Additional features include: identical 3-dot sights with an adjustable rear sight, front and rear slide serrations, a two-slot accessory rail, ambidextrous slide stop lever, interchangeable backstraps and a simple field strip process that could not be easier. The Walther PPQ SC mimics the same ergonomics, features and craftsmanship we have come to know and love from the well-known PPQ M2.

For those looking for a sharp looking, comfortable and reliable lightweight Sub-Compact 9mm pistol for carry that has the fine reputation of the Walther PPQ, look no further, because the handgun you have been waiting for has arrived. The Walther PPQ Sub-Compact is a game-changer that will take the CCW market by storm.
