Microsoft Says Users Are Protected From NSA Hacking Malware

April 18, 2017

After a series of documents were leaked that are believed to have belonged to the National Security Agency (NSA) concerning special malware used to hack into Microsoft devices, Microsoft has released a statement saying that its users are safe from Government hacking.

Microsoft Corp. security manager Phillip Misner wrote a blog post to consumers in which he highlighted some of the patches that were already in place for the malware listed in the leaks.

“Today, Microsoft triaged a large release of exploits made publicly available by Shadow Brokers,” Misner said. “Understandingly, customers have expressed concerns around the risk this disclosure potentially creates. Our engineers have investigated the disclosed exploits, and most of the exploits are already patched.”

“Most of the exploits that were disclosed fall into vulnerabilities that are already patched in our supported products,” he continued.

The leaks were released by a group called Shadow Brokers, who also released what they claim are a series of NSA documents over the last few months. The group originated in the summer of 2016, and has targeted the cyber capabilities and documents of U.S. government agencies.
