Fort Jackson To Train An Additional 2,000 Soldiers Next Year

November 23, 2016

Maj. Gen. Pete Johnson, the general in charge of the Army’s largest training facility, has stated they will be training an additional 2,000 soldiers next year.

53 year old Johnson took command at Fort Jackson, SC in June. He recently announced plans to add an eleventh training battalion. This would increase the total number of soldiers trained at the facility each year from 46,000 to 48,000.

Johnson told reporters:

“Our team’s vision is to be the premiere training post in our Army, while also being a community of excellence, where every soldier, civilian, and family member can thrive,”

He went on to say, despite increasing the total number of troops trained, adding another battalion will give military instructors more time with each soldier.
