WWII Veteran Celebrates His 103rd Birthday At The American Legion

September 26, 2016

A WWII veteran turned 103 years old this weekend. W.S. Edmonds decided to celebrate at one of his favorite local hangouts, The American Legion post 159 in Bryan, Texas. Edmonds spent his 103 birthday surrounded by family and friends, cracking jokes and enjoying the little things in life. At 103 years old Edmonds is as spry and jovial as he’s ever been. He told KHOU reporters that he doesn’t fear aging and is ready for any curve balls that life may throw his way.

“As long as I can get around like I do, with help, and have people come and fix for me then I will be alright, and as long as I know what’s going on.”

At 103 Edmonds is still self sufficient and lives on his own. When things get tough he calls his loving daughter who makes almost daily visits. Edmonds also makes sure that he has regular visits from friends and family that live in the area. Not only is this American patriot one of the oldest living WWII veterans, he also maintains a social life that would make even some of our most popular readers green with envy.

In the video below you can hear W.S. Edmonds discuss his life and military service on Al Hanson’s back porch in 1999.
