George Clooney’s Wife Is Outraged At UN Inaction – ” I Will Drag ISIS Leaders To Court Myself”

September 23, 2016

Humanitarian lawyer Amal Clooney is going public to spread her idea that to combat the war on terror we need to stop bombing ISIS and start suing them.  The barrister, who is the wife of actor George Clooney, stood before the UN last week to explain why she is looking to prosecute the Islamic terror group for their war crimes.

Clooney appeared on NBC’s “The Today Show” to discuss the issue and explained why she doesn’t believe that the problem of ISIS can be solved by “bombing them out of existence.”

“It’s not enough,” she said. “You can’t kill an idea that way.”

“You can kill individuals, but then that in itself can be used as propaganda for further recruitment.  ISIS can just be reborn under a different name if you don’t actually change the narrative and change people’s minds.  They are brainwashing people and I think one of the ways to take action against that is to expose their brutality and their corruption and partly, you can do that through trials.”

Specifically, Clooney wants to go after members of ISIS to charge them for human trafficking and genocide.  At the U.N., Clooney introduced her client, Nadia Murad, a Yazidi woman who was captured, raped, and tortured by ISIS in Northern Iraq but managed to escape.  Murad was one of about 5,000 women who were abducted by the Islamic terror group as they swept through the region.  Murad’s mother and six brothers were among the hundreds slaughtered.

Clooney argued at the U.N. that such genocide and torture is deliberate and planned, and the U.N. is not doing enough to stop it.  “I am ashamed as a human being that we ignore their cries for help,” Clooney said. “We know that what we have before us is genocide, and we know that it is still ongoing. We know exactly who the perpetrators are. They brag.  ISIS brags about its crimes online.”

The humanitarian lawyer acknowledged the great risks that going after ISIS presents but said,  “this is my job.”
