Newtown, CT Teacher Exercising Second Amendment Rights Now At Mercy Of Stupid Law

August 18, 2016

A former Newtown teacher is seeking probation in his case after he was caught earlier this year carrying a loaded gun on school grounds.

Jason Adams, a former eighth grade science teacher is charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds after carrying a loaded .45-caliber Colt Defender to school

A faculty member at Newtown Middle School reported Adams to security personnel after noticing what appeared to be a weapon tucked beneath Adams’ clothing.

Adams, who had a valid pistol permit, was arrested April 6 but later released. Authorities said no one was believed to be in danger because Adams kept the firearm in his holster.

Newtown Middle School is just two miles away from Sandy Hook Elementary School, which is where twenty children and six staff members were killed after a gunman opened fire in 2012.

Adams resigned from his position after being placed on administrative leave following his arrest.

Adams asked the judge to consider a special probationary program to get rid of his charges. He could face up to five years in prison, but he also has no prior criminal history.

Adams appeared in Superior Court on Tuesday to ask for a two year probationary program, but according to his attorney, John Maxwell, the review of the application was postponed to September 15 due to errors with the paperwork, News Times reported.
