BREAKING [DEVELOPING] (VIDEO): Thousands Closely Protesting U.S. Military Presence At Incirlik Air Base In Turkey

[UPDATE July 28, 2016 5:35pmEST] Pentagon spokeswoman Henrietta Levin told the media U.S. officials were aware of the planned protest and that it did not alter day-to-day operations. Several protestors have been seen burning American Flags.

[UPDATE July 28, 2016 3:29pmEST] Over five thousand joined anti-American demonstrations yelling “death to US” and demanding an immediate closure of the Incirlik Air Base for over five hours on Thursday before Turkish police came in and broke up the protesters before they could arrive at major NATO military facility, home to nearly 90 US tactical nuclear weapons.

[UPDATE July 28, 2016 3:00pmEST] The State Department has stated that the demonstration will caused the consulate in Adana to close early at approximately 4:00 pm.

According to RT News and the U.S. State Department a crowd has been protesting near the Incirlik military base in Adana, Turkey, which is home to approximately 1,500 American service members. The base houses US and NATO forces. Regional television has been broadcasting the rally and reports on social media suggest up to 1,000 people have gathered to support the rally. Protesters have been shouting anti-American and anti-Israel slogans, according to an RT stringer.

The State Department’s official Twitter page has confirmed a protest is taking place in the area.
