FBI Arrests Three Relatives Of The San Bernardino Terrorists

April 28, 2016

Three people connected to the San Bernadino terrorists that left 14 dead back in December were arrested for a variety of charges on Thursday. Some of the charges include federal conspiracy, marriage fraud and false statement charges.

The three that were arrested are Syed Raheel Farook, his wife Tatyana Farook, and Mariya Chernykh. Raheel Farook is the brother of Syed Rizawan Farook. Rizwan Farook was one of the San Bernadino shooters back on December 2, 2015. Rizwan and his wife, Tashfeen Malik opened fire on unsuspecting guests of a holiday party at San Bernadino’s Inland Regional Center. Rizwan Farook had been a health specialist for San Bernadino County for 5 years before the attack. He exited the party only to come back with his wife, four guns and a bomb.

Enrique Marquez Jr, a man already in jail for conspiring with Rizwan Farook for terrorist attacks that never happened is awaiting trial. He also is accused of supplying Farook and Malik with weapons that were used in the San Bernadino attacks.

Marquez’ wife, Mariya Chernykh is charged with the misuse of a visa and other documents. These documents were a part of the marriage-for-citizenship scam that the two were a part of. Alledgedly, Marquez received money from Chernykh to be a part of the marriage scam. Chernykh is also accused of two counts of making false statements to federal agents as well as perjury.

Raheel Farook and Tatiana Farook were aware of the sham marriage and assisted in the process. They falsified family pictures of the two, established a joint checking account and created a lease to give off the appearance that the two had a house together.

Raheel Farook and Tatyana Farook face charges that could land them in federal prison for up to five years, while Chernykh faces a much more serious case and could see up to 25 years in prison for document fraud, lying to federal agents, and perjury.

According to U.S Attorney Eileen Decker, “this is the latest step in the comprehensive investigation into the horrific attacks in San Bernardino. We owe the victims and the entire community of San Bernardino a thorough investigation that uncovers all criminal activity surrounding these events.”

Should these three relatives of the San Bernadino terrorists face their maximum sentence?
