Russia Sends Air Force Contingent To Syria To Fight ISIS

September 02, 2015

In a move sure to raise eyebrows across the middle east, Russia has sent an air force contingent to Damascus, Syria to aid in the fight against ISIS…AND help stabilize the Assad regime.

Additionally they will be sending more forces to protect the assets they have there. Such moves are significant as they are paired with Iranian assets which are flowing to the anti-U.S. Assad regime.

Be that what it may, this will lead to mandatory cooperation between the Russians and U.S. forces as we both are trying to irradiate ISIS and their brutal take over of the Middle East.

According to reports, Moscow has made it clear that it has no offensive intentions against any sovereign nation in the region, quelling Israel’s concerns.

It looks like a power shift is underway in the Middle East. Sound off in the comments if you believe that this may be the start of an even worse crisis down the road.

From the Washington Free Beacon:

JERUSALEM—Russia has begun to deploy an air force contingent to Syria in order to undertake air attacks against the Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS or ISIL) and other Islamic groups battling the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, according to the Israeli news site, Ynet.

Citing western diplomatic sources, Ynet reported Tuesday that an advance Russian party has already arrived in Syria and will be followed in the coming weeks by thousands of military personnel, including members of an “aerial protection division.” This presumably is a force to protect the air contingent, which is to include fighter jets and attack helicopters, from ground attack. The Russians will reportedly be making use of an existing Syrian air force base in the Damascus area.
