Buffalo Wild Wings Denies Soldier A Beer, But Makes Up For It In A Big Way

July 16, 2015

A female veteran in Washington State went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings last week and ordered her brother a Corona along with her meal and Blue Moon.

You see, her brother is a fallen soldier who served in Iraq and she wanted to honor him buy buying him a beer. When her waiter, Brian Avey took the order he denied the woman her second beer.

According to state law, a person is not allowed to have more than two drinks at once. The woman explained to the waiter why she ordered the second drink and after some discussion with the manager, Avey served the woman the second beer.

She never touched the beer as promised and instead it sat next to her the whole lunch. When the check came the cost of the Corona was deducted from the bill. On the signed copy of the receipt the woman wrote: “Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day,” the note read, and she signed it, “A Grateful Soldier.”

But here’s where things got interesting. While cleaning off the table, the manager at Buffalo Wild Wings named Dan didn’t have the heart to throw out the beer for the fallen hero.

So he placed the beer next to a folded flag where it has stood ever since as a constant tribute to the fallen.

Dan told Avey: “Let’s keep it. Just make sure that we change out the lime every day.”

A Military Woman came into my work today for Lunch, she ordered a Blue Moon and a Corona, I told her she could only do…

her, and one for her brother who died in Iraq.

At first, Tacoma, Washington,  Buffalo Wild Wings server Brian Avey told her that she couldn’t order two beers because of Washington state law.

But then she told him the Corona was for her brother.

“It just sat next her at an empty seat her entire Lunch,” wrote Avey on his Facebook page. “When I brought her bill I told her Buffalo Wild Wings will be buying that beer …”

On her receipt, the woman wrote this note of thanks:

“Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day.” –A Grateful Soldier
