BREAKING: Israel Hamas 12 Hour Cease Fire Saturday

Israel Hamas 12 Hour Cease Fire Saturday
July 25, 2014

The Israel Hamas 12 hour cease-fire on Saturday is for “humanitarian” purposes, to allow civilians to buy food and to clear away the dead. Israel rejected the Secretary of State John Kerry plan for a 7-day cease fire, which would have given Hamas time to resupply its terror network.

Israeli Defense Forces make clear cease fire is not to allow evacuees to return:

According to CNN:

The developments come as Israel and Hamas agreed to a 12-hour humanitarian cease-fire beginning Saturday morning. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry that Israel agreed to a cease-fire beginning Saturday at 7 a.m. local time, a U.S. official told CNN. The official, who is traveling with Kerry, spoke on condition anonymity. The news was first reported by Reuters and Agence France Presse. Hamas also agreed to the cease-fire, according to a statement released by senior Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri. The agreement came hours after U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for the cease-fire, with the hopes it would be extended to seven days, while diplomats work to broker an end to the bloodshed.

Under normal circumstances, this would be cause for celebration, but if past “cease-fires” are any indication of what is to come, we can expect very little “ceasing.” In every single past cease-fire, Hamas has exploited the opportunity to fire at Israel. In some cases, Israel holds its retaliatory fire for civilians’ sakes, in other cases it strikes back.

While it is admirable that politicians and diplomats are scrambling to stem the violence, at some point they need to realize that this time around there simply is no stopping it. The region has been on the edge of full blown war for years, and now it has tipped over that edge. This war will rage on until Hamas has been crushed, and Israelis can finally step outside without fear of rockets raining from the sky. There is nothing anyone can do to stop, and quite frankly, they shouldn’t stop it. Terrorism can only be met, and stopped, by using force. Hamas needs to be brought to its knees, and Israel is more than capable of accomplishing this.
