Jon Stewart of Comedy Central tore into VA Secretary Eric Shinseki Monday over his seeming lack of engagement with the crisis at Veterans Affairs:
Shinseki: Any adverse incident like this … makes me as … makes me mad as hell. I could use stronger language, here, Mr. Chairman, but in deference to the committee, I won’t.
Stewart: No, I think that would be an appropriate use of stronger language. Perhaps I can offer you something. …. You know, Mr. Shinseki, since you’ve headed up the agency since 2009, I think 5 years in may be time to ratchet up the vocabulary.
That’s just the start of the clip.
“We were able to send 300,000 troops halfway around the world in just a few months to fight a war that cost two trillion dollars,” Stewart said, “yet for some reason it takes longer than that to get someone hurt in that war needed medical care or reimbursement — all while we profess our undying love for their service.”
“Fix This Mothe**ucking Thing!” he concludes.
