Mike Bowen, 65, is a veteran who served in the Vietnam era but never saw action in Vietnam itself. Call it guilt, call it dedication to the missing, but 31 years ago while visiting the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. he pledged to run a mile for each name on those hallowed walls.
Mind you, Bowen had never been called an avid runner before his astounding journey. Through cancer and multiple knee surgeries, Bowen has kept on logging miles, all the while carrying the POW/MIA flag that has become his trademark.
