A U.S. State Department official was discovered last week to be behind a blog attacking Jewish people, including a claim that Jewish ideas are poisonous.

Politico first reported Friday that Foreign Service officer Fritz Berggren is behind a Sept. 2017-era blog, Bloodandfaith.com, which is behind an Oct. 4, 2020 post titled, “Jews are Not God’s Chosen People. Judeo-Christian is Anti-Christ,” in which he said, “Jewish ideas poison people; Jesus warned his disciples about the teachings of the Jews.”

The post also alleges, “Jesus Christ came to save the whole world from the Jews — the founders of the original Anti-Christ religion, they who are the seed of the Serpent, that brood of vipers,” in addition to blaming Jews for the murder of Jesus Christ and asks, “How then can they be God’s chosen?”

Berggren is working in a State Department unit processing immigrant visas for Afghans, according to a directory obtained by Politico. His now-removed LinkedIn profile described his current position as a Foreign Service Officer (FSO).

Berggren was previously listed as a Financial Management Officer (FMO) for the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain on a 2019 State Department directory of Key Officers of Foreign Service Posts.

Although Berggren’s entire history at the State Department is unclear, including when he joined the department, his name is listed as an employee of the department on a June 25, 2009 Congressional Record.

Other posts on Berggren’s blog include posts condemning left-wing movements such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter, and theorizing on the elimination of white people due to demographic and cultural changes. He also promotes the creation of Christian-only nations.

After Politico’s report published on Friday, Berggren published a new post titled, “Welcome, Politico readers!” that concluded with, “If you have not already surmised, my ideas are my own and not a reflection of any employer, company, agency, country, etc.”

When asked about Berggren’s blog, a State Department spokesperson told Politico, “We will not comment on internal personnel matters beyond saying that these are personal views and do not represent those of the State Department,” the spokesperson said. “As a department, we embrace and champion diversity, equity and inclusion as a source of strength.”

Berggren’s posts are signed “Fritz Berggren, PhD,” and do not appear to describe himself as affiliated with the State Department, which could protect him from discipline, a former State Department attorney told Politico.
