Boston Dynamics has released footage of Atlas, an incredible humanoid robot, who can do back-flips and box jumps. Seriously.
The video, published Nov. 16 on YouTube, already has more than 4.5 million views and was number one on the trending page at one point.
Atlas is nearly five feet tall and weighs about 165 pounds, Boston Dynamics says. It also has 28 joints.

Atlas is the latest in aĀ line of advanced humanoid robots we are developing. Atlas’ control system coordinates motions of theĀ arms, torso and legs to achieve whole-body mobile manipulation, greatly expanding its reach and workspace. Atlas’ ability to balance whileĀ performingĀ tasks allows it to work in a large volume while occupying only a small footprint.
The Atlas hardware takes advantage of 3D printing to save weight and space, resulting in a remarkable compact robot with highĀ strength-to-weight ratio and a dramatically largeĀ workspace. Stereo vision,Ā range sensing and other sensors give Atlas the ability to manipulate objects in its environment and to travel on rough terrain. Atlas keepsĀ its balance when jostled or pushed andĀ can get up if it tipsĀ over.
