Social media star and Navy veteran Dan Bilzerian has posted videos online responding to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, who called him out after Bilzerian posted videos showing himself “running away” from the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday.

“So, I wake up this morning and the news is talking sh*t, saying, I dunno, some Marine is saying I was a pu–y for running away and that I should have stood my ground when a guy is shooting at me with a machine gun,” Bilzerian posted on Instagram Stories. Bilzerian has nearly 23 million followers on that social platform.

“So, I mean, if we follow that retard’s logic, we’d probably have [600] dead if everybody stood their ground instead of running for cover,” Bilzerian said.

Marine Corps combat veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer called out Bilzerian for running away from those who needed help during the Las Vegas shooting late Sunday night, and also for filming himself running away and using that footage to garner followers.

“Dan Bilzerian is a coward, and he thinks it’s video-worthy,” Meyer said in a Facebook video he posted Monday. “Are you kidding me?”

“To video himself passing someone [who got shot in the head] – either he’s a liar and looking for followers or a coward,” Meyer said.

On Tuesday, Bilzerian addressed this, “because this news is a such a bunch of fu—g bullshit.”

Bilzerian said news outlets “print whatever is going to get the most clicks,” and told his followers “you can’t get the real deal anymore.”

“They publish some fu—g guy’s account, sitting behind a laptop fu—g typing trying to get his five minutes of fame,” Bilzerian continued. “He’s there blogging about me while I’m fu—g delivering 8,000 pounds of food and water to Vegas and going to hospitals. What the fu-k is he doing?”

“To be clear, the first fu—g thing I did after we dropped those two girls off at the hospital is, I went and got my gun and I went straight fu—g back there and was there for three fu—g hours,” he added.

Bilzerian’s video can be seen here:

Bilzerian had posted several videos to Snapchat that chronicled his experience at the country music festival on Sunday night, where he was backstage when a gunman went on a shooting spree with automatic weapons and killed 59 people and wounded more than 500 others at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

The country music festival was across from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Country music star Jason Aldean was performing at the festival when the gunfire erupted.

In his video clips, Bilzerian can be seen running away from the stage while bullets are heard flying. He says he just saw a woman get shot in the face “right next to me,” and that her “brains were hanging out.”

It was reported that Bilzerian left the scene and took another victim to the hospital, and then came back to help police on-scene.

Meyer said the shooting – the largest mass shooting in modern U.S. history – coupled with Bilzerian’s videos, made him “sick.”

“We look at peoples’ followers, we look at how cool their life looks on Instagram and we start looking up to them,” Meyer said in the beginning of his video, explaining that he, too, used to look up to Bilzerian and got “caught up” in the hype.

Later in the video, Meyer added: “Listen, I wouldn’t be upset with him if he wasn’t always trying to talk around and play operator,” saying that it was “part of the problem.”

“He would rather [take a] video than do what’s right,” Meyer added.

Bilzerian has nearly 23 million followers on Instagram, more than 12 million followers on Facebook and almost 1.5 million followers on Twitter.

He often posts photos of himself surrounded by women, celebrity friends, and of himself and others on exotic adventures that appear to be just another “day in the life.”
