A Texas Tech police officer has been shot and killed on campus and the shooter, Hollis A. Daniels, a student, has been apprehended after he initially went on the run.
The campus lockdown has been lifted.

Texas Tech police identified the shooter as Hollis A. Daniels as reported by local Fox 4.
Texas Tech spokesman Chris Cook said that the officer was shot in the head after the student was questioned at the Texas Tech University police department.
The full statement reads:
“Earlier this evening, Texas Tech Police made a student welfare check. Upon entering the room, officers found evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Officers brought the suspect to the police station for standard debriefing.
During this time, the suspect pulled a gun and shot an officer in the head. The officer is deceased. The suspect fled on foot and is currently still at-large.
Texas Tech University campus is on lockdown.
We will update as more information becomes available.”
The officer’s name has not been released.
Texas Tech released the following alerts:
“A shooting has been reported at TTU Police Department. Shooter is at large. The campus is on lockdown. Take shelter. emergency.ttu.edu.”
