‘He is not my bride’: Putin says it’s wrong to ask if he’s ‘disappointed’ with Trump

September 05, 2017

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday chastised a reporter asking whether he was “disappointed” with President Donald Trump.

“Your question sounds very naive,” Putin said, according to The Moscow Times. “He is not my bride, neither am I his bride or groom.”

The Russian leader was speaking at the BRICS summit in China.

Trump was positive toward Putin and Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign, but the two countries’ relations have soured especially since the US intelligence community concluded that Russia meddled in last year’s election to help Trump. Multiple agencies are investigating whether the Trump campaign worked directly with Russia in that effort.

In turn, Putin has been critical of Trump recently. At the same press conference, the Russian president attacked the US approach to North Korea, saying threats of military action could trigger “a global catastrophe.”
