(VIDEO) Taking a look at three full size 9mm competition guns

August 18, 2017

I’ve enjoyed watching fast action shooting sports grow throughout the past five years. Many people have put away their bowling balls and purchased a full size Glock to get involved in exciting shooting competitions. Several of the outdoor ranges in my area host all types of shooting competitions. Everything from bowling pin shoots to IDPA matches; many people are learning, practicing and thriving in this new wave of firearm shooting challenges. From senior citizens to 8-year-old girls, there is a place for everyone to participate in shooting sports.

The pistol market has responded to the growing demand of full size competition guns. When I attended Shot Show 2017, I was amazed at how many new full size handguns were introduced to fulfill the growing demand for competition firearms. These full size competition pistols are incredibly accurate with standard five-inch barrels and large capacity magazines. They typically have a lighter and shorter trigger pull, cut outs in the slide and fiber optic front sights. Whether a competition shooter or just a range shooting fanatic, these full size pistols offer something for everyone.

I currently own two full size competition ready 9mm handguns. The Grand Power X-Calibur and the Canik TP9 SFx are incredibly accurate with features that offer the competitor everything they need to sign up and get involved at their local range. Sig Sauer also entered the game with their newly released Sig P320 X-Five that sports a five-inch match grade bull barrel while encompassing all the qualities of their popular P320 models.

Watch the video and check out the similarities and differences of the three full size competition handguns featured. Be sure to comment on what one of these, or any other model, is your favorite for competition or a great time at the range.
