Air Force Academy a cappella singing group performs on ‘America’s Got Talent’

June 20, 2017

In the Stairwell, the Air Force Academy’s all-male a cappella singing group, performed on “America’s Got Talent” earlier this month and earned themselves a position in the next round of the competition.

The 16 cadets, performing “Drag Me Down,” earned themselves a standing ovation following their performance. However, one of the judges, Howie Mandel, was not impressed with the group’s performance.

The producers of the show watched the group’s fall YouTube broadcast and contacted the Academy saying they were interested in having them performing on the show, according to an Air Force news release.

The group was then invited to sing in front of judge Simon Cowell.

“[Performing for judge Simon Cowell] was by far one of the coolest experiences that our group has ever had the opportunity to be a part of,” vocalist Thompson Knox said in the release. “America will be surprised.”

According to the group’s Facebook page, they perform for a variety of functions, entertainment on base and in the community.
