Domino’s Pizza Driver Suspended After Fatally Shooting Armed Teenager Trying To Rob Him

May 08, 2017

A Domino’s pizza delivery driver fatally shot an armed 16-year-old teenager who was attempting to rob him Saturday.

According to authorities, the delivery driver was in the 1400 block of Springwood Drive near Mesquite Metropolitan Airport about 11:20 p.m when teenager and another suspect confronted him. The house that the driver was delivering pizza to was vacant.

One of the robbers fired a handgun at the driver, who returned fire, while the two fled. One of the two robbers was shot and found nearby but later died.

Police identified the deceased suspect as Wayne Delaney Osborne, a sophomore at John Horn High School in Mesquite, Texas.

The other suspect, also 16 years-old, whose name was not released, was arrested for aggravated robbery.

Officers said the delivery driver did not have a handgun license and could face charges for unlawfully carrying the weapon.

A Domino’s Pizza spokesperson said in a statement the delivery driver was suspended as an investigation is underway.
