(VIDEO) Learn About The U.S. Navy Submarine Program

April 21, 2017

Working on a submarine is probably one of the coolest jobs the United States Navy has to offer. Of course, it goes without saying that they only take the best and brightest to serve in the submarine fleet, as the missions are generally of very high importance, and proper knowledge of the equipment can mean the difference between life or death. Dating back to the birth of the country, the U.S. navy has sought to widen its knowledge of submarine warfare. Seeing widespread use during the first World War, submarines have captured the imaginations of people around the world ever since.

There are multiple submarines in use, each class serving a different overall mission for the U.S. Navy. The most common submarine in the U.S. Navy is the SSN fast attack submarines. Comprised of the Virginia class, the Los Angeles Class, and Seawolf class, these submarines provide quick-strike capabilities to the Navy and its assets.

This video gives a brief description of the different classes of submarines, a brief description of their armament and capabilities, and what type of mission they provide for the United States Navy. It also has a ton of cool graphics showing a little info alongside each one.
