Assange Says Wikileaks Will Share Details Of CIA Hacking Tools With Tech Companies

March 09, 2017

On Thursday, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange said that tech companies will be given access to more detailed information about the CIA hacking techniques so that they can “develop fixes” before Wikileaks continues to publish the confidential information. On Tuesday, Wikileaks released thousands of confidential CIA documents which detail techniques that the agency uses to spy on citizens through personal technology. Televisions, smartphones, and Internet-connected devices are all subjected to being hacked by the CIA to listen, track and spy on their owners.

“Wikileaks has a lot more information on what has been going on with the cyberweapons program,” Assange said. “And so, I want to announce today that after considering what we think is the best way to proceed and hearing these calls from some of the manufacturers, we have decided to work with them to give them some exclusive access to the additional technical details we have so that fixes can be developed and pushed out so people can be secured.”

“Once this material is effectively disarmed by us by removing critical components, we will publish additional details about what has been occuring,” he continued.
