Perception trumps reality when swaying opinions and recruiting anti-gun warriors. This is why Anti-Gunners have latched on to the AR-15 style rifle and re-named it an “assault weapon.” They need a villain to fight. They need something they can use to scare people. They need something, other than their own failed policies, to blame, so all the fearful, angry, self-righteous Anti-Gunners can rally together and declare unity against something.
Anti-Gunners will look for any reason to demonize AR-15 style rifles. When you break down the actual components of the rifle, there is nothing there that justifies this horrific fear and anxiety that they try to perpetuate. The hysteria they create around the AR is a fabrication built on hype and propaganda. The purpose of their circus-act is to convince people to support the banning and/or restriction of these guns. Their hope is that once the create precedence with this particular violation of the 2nd Amendment, they will have the wind at their back to move forward with ammunition restrictions, handgun restrictions and any number of other human-rights violations. Their hope is to gain the mindless, fear-driven support of people to jump on-board with their agenda as they work toward their government-controlled Utopian fantasy.
When we look at the individual components that make up their so-called “assault weapon,” we understand that they are typical components that have been targeted specifically for the purpose of vilification. Pistol grips, detachable magazines, silencers, scopes and other components all provide very useful purpose when hunting and sport-shooting. Making these components appear deadly is like saying the Toyota Prius is dangerous because you can’t hear it coming down the road and people are more likely to die from being in its path and not knowing it.
The difference in narratives happens because Anti-Gunners look at these rifles from a completely different perspective than gun-owners do. Anti-Gunners perceive guns through a lens of murder. When they see a gun, they envision it being used to kill people. Think about what that says about them. When a gun-owner sees a gun, they perceive it through a lens of sporting, hunting or protecting human life. It is an embarrassment that we have reached a point in our society that we allow those with murderous thoughts in their minds to create the gun-narrative and decide what is best for everyone.
I recognize that we are now at a point in our history where it has become clear that we must change the narrative, educate people and shut down the fear-mongers. Those who violate the rights of their fellow citizens have no business being involved in the conversation and should never be given a seat at the negotiating table.
Stick to your guns,
