Trump Names Reince Priebus As Chief Of Staff, Steve Bannon As Chief Strategist

November 14, 2016

On Sunday, the Trump transition team announced the President-elect’s pick for his Chief of Staff as Reince Priebus as well as his pick for Chief Strategist as Steve Bannon. Both Priebus and Bannon have played integral roles in the final stages of Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign, and selecting them to work so closely alongside him during his Presidency is an effort to continue the success.

“I am thrilled to have my very successful team continue with me in leading our country,” Trump said in a statement. “Steve and Reince are highly qualified leaders who worked well together on our campaign and led us to a historic victory. Now I will have them both with me in the White House as we work to make America great again.”

Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Priebus has been acting as a campaign advisor since Trump won the nomination. While serving on the Trump campaign, Priebus worked as a bridge between the Trump team and the establishment Republicans in the House and Senate. As Chief of Staff, Priebus will set the tone and control the day-to-day operations within the White House and continue to work as a liaison between the administration and lawmakers. While many Republican lawmakers were tough critics of Trump, Reince and the President-elect kept their relationship strong despite the RNC chairman’s close ties with the establishment. Trump has praised Priebus over the years for his positive leadership of the Republican party.

“It is truly an honor to join President-elect Trump in the White House as his Chief of Staff,” Priebus said in a statement. “I am very grateful to the President-elect for this opportunity to serve him and this nation as we work to create an economy that works for everyone, secure our borders, repeal and replace Obamacare and destroy radical Islamic terrorism. He will be a great President for all Americans.”

Former CEO of Breitbart News, Bannon was appointed CEO of the Trump campaign in August 2016. Since then, Trump’s poll numbers and approval ratings rose and ultimately won him the Presidency. He has been declared by Bloomberg as “the most dangerous political operative in America” for his fierce opposition to the GOP establishment. Breitbart has spent years going after establishment Republicans and has served as a very Pro-Trump publication throughout his Presidential campaign.

“I want to thank President-elect Trump for the opportunity to work with Reince in driving the agenda of the Trump administration,” Mr Bannon said on Sunday.

“We had a very successful partnership on the campaign, one that led to victory,” Bannon continued. “We will have that same partnership in working to help President-elect Trump achieve his agenda.”
