Woman Stoned To Death By ISIS In Front Of Entire Community For Refusing Marriage Proposal

October 14, 2016

On October 8, 2016 ISIS forced dozens of residents of the city of Mosul to participate in, and watch, the stoning of a 32-year-old woman that refused to marry a local ISIS fighter. The terrorist group claims the woman committed adultery and therefore “deserved” her punishment according to ARA news. ISIS is known for making up unjustified, false “claims” and then using those false claims as justification to brutally murder women.

The woman received no trial for her alleged crime and no supporting evidence was provided by the ISIS members making the claims. Abdullah al-Malla, a local media activist, told ARA news:

“The ISIS-led Sharia court said in a statement that the woman was charged with adultery, without providing further information. ISIS jihadists demanded the people of Mosul watch the brutal execution, and forced dozens to participate in stoning her along with the group’s militants.”

Several prominent community members came forward to dispel this narrative. They claim that she was murdered after trying to flee her family home after her father arranged a marriage with a local Jihadi. Raafat al-Zarai, head of the Nineveh Media Center in Iraq, reported to ARA news:

“The adultery accusation was completely baseless. This woman was executed for escaping her family’s house after an ISIS jihadist asked for her hand in marriage and her father agreed. She preferred death instead of marrying one of ISIS’ jihadists, who are known for their brutality towards women.”

Both the stoning of women and arranged marriages are commonplace activities in ISIS controlled communities.
