The University Of Minnesota And Sesame Street Are On The Lookout For Military Families

September 12, 2016

The University of Minnesota is teaming up with Sesame Street to help military families transition back into civilian life. The university and iconic children’s show are working together to provide support for the selfless individuals that sacrifice their personal liberties to ensure the survival of American freedom.

Eligible participants must have at least one, or both, parents currently serving in the Active Duty military or have at least one veteran parent that has separated from the military in the last 18 months.

The program is a 6-week online module that can be completed at the families convenience. The organization will send out emails, complete with videos and worksheets, that will help not only military parents, but their children, cope with the struggle of reintegrating into civilian life. Not only will these families receive emotional and mental support, they will be compensated for their time as well!

Randomized controlled trials are conducted to determine the effectiveness of the program. If you, or someone you know, is interested in participating they can sign up for the study here! You can also contact the programs coordinator, Dr. Jill Bowers, at sesame@umn.edu.
