BREAKING: NYC/NJ Bombing Suspect Ahmad Rahami Captured After Shootout

[UPDATE September 16, 2016 2:45 pm] Authorities have not found any evidence that leads them to believe Rahami was part of a larger terrorist cell. He was reportedly found sleeping in the doorway of a bar by a resident. Local authorities were notified and approached Rahami. When asked to show his hands Rahami pulled out a pistol and began firing at the officers. The officers returned fire. Rahami then took off on foot, firing indiscriminately at passing vehicles. Rahami was then shot multiple times before being subdued.

28 year old terror suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami is in custody. According to multiple news sources Rahami has been captured in Linden, New Jersey after an apparent shootout with police.  CNN reports two officers were injured in the altercation, one in the vest and one in the hand.  The suspect was wounded after being shot twice but conscious before being taken to the hospital.

The incident happened around 10:45am local time after police received calls that someone was shooting at cars passing by in the 500 block of east Elizabeth Avenue, near the Linden train station.  According to CBS News he was found sleeping outside of a business in the area.

Rahami is wanted for the NYC and NJ bombings over the weekend.  The suspect was reportedly known to authorities and lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
