(VIDEO) 55th Fighter Squadron Returns Home To Shaw Air Force Base After Six Month Deployment In Korea

August 15, 2016

South Korea is one of the hottest corners in the planet. It has been since the North decided to cross the 38th parallel and invade the South back in 1950, starting a conflict that has never really ended. Nowadays, a small-time dictator with too much power in his hands, has made it even hotter. Because of this, to have a strong military presence to serve as a deterrence is paramount.

The boys with the 55th Fighter Squadron out of Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC did just that. Always in the ready to remind the little loony in the North not to get too loony, the F-16 Falcon squadron patrolled the skies of Korea for six-months, passing the baton with no incidents “to report”. To a job well-done of course, a warm and extraordinary homecoming was in order, and their love ones gave them just that. Looks like a job well done on both parts.
