(Video) Pokemon Go Player Collides SUV Into Parked Police Car – Immediately Shows Cop Game Progress

July 21, 2016

A body camera worn by a Baltimore police officer managed to catch the moment a man playing Pokemon Go while driving an SUV crashed into a parked police car on the side of a road.

In the footage, a Toyota Rav 4 can be seen driving down the road until it slams into the side of a parked police car and continues to drive on by. The incident occurred on early Monday morning.

The driver had been looking down at his phone playing Pokemon Go when he hit into the vehicle. Pokemon Go users are told not to play the game while in the car because it is a distraction.

The officer approaches the car and asks if the people inside the car are ok. He then shows the police officer his phone and says, “That’s what I get for playing this dumb— game.”

In a press conference on Tuesday, Baltimore Police spokesman T.J Smith said there have been more incidents involving Pokemon Go, including several occasions where people get their phone stolen.

“Way too many people have their heads buried in their phones trying to catch a Pokemon, and the criminals are catching them,” Smith said.

“This is no different than texting and driving, changing a CD, putting on makeup or eating a sandwich. You have to pay attention while driving,” Smith said.
