July 28, 2016

An Iowa high school choir decided to honor the life of a fallen World War II soldier by singing “Battle Hymn of the Republic” while his remains were being escorted off a plane.

Diane Hollifield Cupp managed to capture the amazing moment on video as an Army private was escorting the remains of the fallen World War II soldier off of a Delta flight that departed from Frankfurt, German and landed in Atlanta, Georgia on July 18. The soldiers remains were to be returned to his home in Houston.

The pilot announced to the passengers that the Army private would be the first one to exit the plane. A group of students a part of the Iowa Ambassadors of Music Choir began singing “Battle Hymn of the Republic” to honor the soldier.

In her Facebook post, Cupp wrote, “Listen how beautiful!! Will bring a tear to your eye.”

Since the video was posted it has gone viral with hundreds of thousands of views.
