Gun Store Owner (Former NYPD) Who Sold Guns To Orlando Shooter: “Do Some Truthful Reporting”

June 14, 2016

Ed Henson, the owner of the St. Lucie Shooting Center, spoke out Monday regarding the purchase of two weapons that were used by the Orlando terrorist who attacked a gay night club in Orlando, Florida, Sunday morning. He’s upset with the inaccurate reporting on his store and the mischaracterization of automatic versus semi-automatic weapons.

Oman, Mateen, the terrorist who killed 50 people, bought an AR-15 and a handgun ten days prior to the attack.

Ed Henson, spoke in a press conference on Monday afternoon to talk about the firearms purchases.

Henson, a former NYPD officer who worked at the twin towers at the time of the September 11th attacks and a first responder at the Flight 587 plane crash said, “I am truly truly saddened and shocked by this terrorist act.”

He said that Mateen legally purchased both firearms separately and passed a full background check before the purchase.

He said that he doesn’t recollect Mateen asking to purchase body armor and that the gun shop does not carry body armor.

He explained that despite Mateen being investigated by the FBI back in 2013 and 2014 for terrorist ties, he was still able to legally purchase the firearms. He followed the proper protocol to purchase firearms under Florida law since he had the three day waiting period to buy a handgun.

“I just hope that you do some truthful reporting,” Henson said.
