Gun Shop Owner: AR-15 Sales Skyrocketing For Personal Protection
In the wake of tragic events, gun sales have spiked rapidly due to people wanting to protect themselves. After the Orlando nightclub shooting, the same results have been occurring.
As a result of the shooting, the sale of semi-automatic rifles has increased drastically.
Adventure Outdoors told Fox Business Network that AR-15 sales have increased since the shooting. They told that they are averaging 15 more AR-15 sales an hour.
The rifles usually cost between $500 and $3,000.
People will try to buy more semiautomatic rifles for two reasons, according to the General Manager of Premier Shooting and Training Center in Ohio, Jim Lentz.
“You have two sides of the spectrum. You have the uneducated fear of the gun and you have the fear that they won’t be able to get the firearm any longer,” Lentz told Cincinnati’s WLWT5. “So I think what we’re seeing now is a spike of people concerned that (the) government will come in and not allow them to own this type of firearm.”
Many people believe that AR-15’s are automatic weapons or assault rifles, which is not the case. The AR-15 is a semi-automatic and it requires the carrier to squeeze the trigger for every round that is to be fired. Many military-style weapons only require one squeeze of the trigger to fire many rounds, but this is not the case for the AR-15.
