The couple was coming home and found a window broken in their house. The couple were already carrying weapons on them and were checking in and out of rooms to see if there was an intruder inside.

When the couple entered one of the rooms, they noticed that the closet door wasn’t fully closed and there was a man hiding behind it with a gun facing towards the couple. The couple recognized the man hiding in the closet as their neighbor and deputies identified the man as 20 year-old Johnny Locke.

She said Locke found her pink pistol in the house and was holding the two of them at gunpoint. “He said he was gonna shoot me in the head and kill the baby if (my boyfriend) didn’t drop his gun, or he would kill Jonathan if I didn’t drop mine,” she said to Eyewitness News.

The couple chose to not drop their guns and keep them pointed at Locke while calling the police. The operator on the phone told the couple to “just keep your gun pointed. That way, if he shoots, you fire also.”

When police arrived, they tried to talk to Locke and ease the tension of the situation but Locke eventually called 911 and took his own life.
