The Tor missile system is an all-weather low to medium altitude, short-range surface-to-air missile system designed for engaging airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, precision guided munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles and short-range ballistic threats. The system is commonly known by its NATO reporting name, SA-15 “Gauntlet”.
The Tor-M2 is an upgraded version of the Tor-M1 short-range air defense missile system that was created to counter America’s overwhelmingly superior air assets, like Apache helicopters and Unmanned Air Vehicles among others. You can’t blame them for trying.
