ISIS Fighter Kills His Own Mother In Public For The Most Disturbing Reason
The depraved nature of ISIS knows no bounds, and this story is just the latest example.
On the terror group’s orders, Ali Saqr, 21, killed his own mother in front of hundreds in the square in front of the post office in which she worked in.
The crime? Apostasy, which she was accused of by fellow ISIS terrorists who told Saqr to kill her.
Shortly before, the mother identified as Lena al-Qasem, had told her son to leave the terror group and flee Raqqa. The son, who was born in Syria and grew up with his mom in nearby Tabaqa, reported her to ISIS.
While the reporting group Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently, says that her request is not the reason for her murder, it almost surely played some role.
From the New York Times:
BEIRUT, Lebanon — An Islamic State militant executed his own mother in front of a post office in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa this week, Syrian activists said on Friday, with one monitoring organization adding that the problems began when she tried to persuade him to leave the extremist group.
The fighter, Ali Saqr, 21, killed his mother in front of several hundred people for what the Islamic State called apostasy, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently, two groups that monitor the conflict through contacts on the ground.
The act was the latest in a chain of brutal and bizarre killings that the Islamic State uses, and often widely publicizes, in efforts to tamp down dissent and to attract recruits.
