An Army veteran named Chris Mintz, 30, was attending class at Umpqua Community College when the crazed gunman began shooting at his classmates.

It was at this point, according to his cousin, that Mintz charged at 26 year old Chris Harper-Mercer. It was his his son’s birthday.
“There was no way he was going to stand around and watch something this horrific happen.” said Derek Bourgeois told the Daily Mail.
By the grace of God, Mintz survived. The bullets missed his vital organs. However he did sustain two broken legs and will have to learn to walk again.
