DEVELOPING: IL Cop & Army Vet Shot – Manhunt On For The Shooters

Army veteran and Fox Lake Police Officer Lt. Joe Gliniewicz was shot and killed this morning shortly before 8am.

The incident occurred while he was pursuing three men on foot described as two white men and one black man.

Gliniewicz is known as a beloved member of the community and a great guy. He is survived by his 4 family members

The manhunt for his killers is on all across Lake County, Illinois. Canine units are combing the area in conjunction with U.S. Marshals and ATF agents. We’ll keep you updated.

Investigators combed neighborhoods north of Chicago on Tuesday in a massive manhunt for three suspects accused of shooting dead a police officer.

The shooting happened about 10 minutes before 8 a.m., after Lt. Joe Gliniewicz sent word over his radio that he was pursuing three suspects on foot, Lake County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christopher Covelli said.

Radio communication dropped off and backup officers were sent. They found the officer with a gunshot wound.
