The U.S. Navy Just Intercepted A Submarine…What It Was Carrying Will Shock You

July 24, 2015

U.S. border and customs agents intercept vessels fairly frequently. Some are smugglers, some are refugees, some are adrift boats. But this week something strange happened.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine agents along with U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard personnel intercepted a semi-submersible submarine off the coast of El Salvador that had been spotted by U.S. aircraft.

Inside was 8 TONS of cocaine worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

This was a major bust to find the vessel which is connected to one of Latin America’s most powerful cartels. With increased naval presence in the area cartels are turning to submarines to avoid detection. This time they were busted!

_____________

From the Independent:

A submarine-like vessel carrying more than eight tons of cocaine has been seized by US authorities off the coast of El Salvador.

Authorities found 274 bales containing 7,650kg of cocaine worth hundreds of millions of dollars on the semi-submersible vessel after it was intercepted on Saturday.

Warnings of the use of submarines by drug traffickers go back as far as 2010, when Royal Navy officers said they were increasingly being used to transport the illicit cargo from Latin America to Europe and Britain.
