What was most frightening however was his very bleak outlook on tour national security.
Nunes said that the nation is currently at the highest threat level it’s ever been at, including the days following the 9/11 attacks.
His very worrisome statement comes from intelligence that ISIS has gotten significantly smarter in how they plan and communicate. Now, with citizens returning to their western countries of origin after spending time with ISIS in Syria and Iraq, there is simply no way to track them all.
Rep. Nunes said the government does not have a full picture of which citizens have gone abroad to fight and therefore can’t track them upon their return.
This means the threat of smaller attacks such as the ones seen in Boston and Texas or something similar are a lot more likely.
