Green Beret Killed In Afghanistan
SGT Daniel Lee, 28, of Crossville, Tennessee, was killed on January 15 in the Parwan Province of Afghanistan. Lee was a Green Beret assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Rest in peace.
FORT MITCHELL, KY. (Associated Press) — The Defense Department announced today the death of Sgt. Daniel T. Lee, 28, of Crossville, Tenn.
Lee died Jan. 15 in Parwan Province, Afghanistan, when his unit was hit with small arms fire the DoD announcement said. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.
The soldier’s father, Daniel Patrick Lee, told The Kentucky Enquirer that Army officials told him and his wife that their sondied being shot in the chest.
The father said he didn’t know all the details surrounding the death of his son, who was a Green Beret.
He said his son was always smiling, kept a positive outlook and “lit up a room when he came in.”
School officials in northern Kentucky’s Kenton County said the soldier was a hometown hero.
