WW2 Vets Face Arrest For Visiting Their Memorial

This is an outrage!

An “Honor Flight” (the charity that brings World War II vets to visit their memorials in Washington, DC for free) is planning on bringing World War II vets to visit their memorial in Washington this weekend. But with the government shutdown, not only is the trip being threatened with cancellation, but the government is threatening to ARREST any vet who tries to enter the memorial! This is after the fact that on Monday, October 1st, World War II vets knocked down barriers blocking the WW2 memorial so they could visit it, which was “closed” because of the government shutdown. Nevermind that this memorial is outdoors and never, ever has barriers around it – so why the need now?

Honor Flight flys veterans to visit their memorials in Washington D.C. free of charge so they can see them. Most of these vets from the greatest generation have never seen the memorials built in their honor for saving the world from Nazi Germany and global tyranny.

Northwest Ohio Honor Flight President Lee Armstrong said, “We will make the call this Friday to determine if the flight is still a go, or if we will have to re-schedule.”

When he contacted the parks service, he was told that if the veterans tried to gain access to the memorial, they would face arrest. “I said, are you kidding me? You’re going to arrest a 90/91-year-old veteran from seeing his memorial? If it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t be there. She said, ‘That’s correct sir.'” said Armstrong.

When he asked for the parks service members name, the quickly hung up the phone.

TOLEDO — In and around the Glass City, affects of the government shutdown can be seen at our museums, monuments, and national parks. The gates are closed and locked, denying access completely to the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.

Transportation Safety Administration employees were still working at Toledo Express Airport on Monday, but when WNWO called the TSA to find out if they would be affected, there was a message that said the public relations representative did not have access to her voicemail or email due to the government shutdown.

A letter from Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s (D-OH 9) office reads,”…only services deemed essential for the safety of human life and protection of property will be continued.”

Yet, for a group of World War II veterans visiting the national memorial in Washington D.C., an all expense paid trip which is called an “Honor Flight,” the shutdown was not stopping them from seeing the tribute that was inspired by them.

“It just goes to show you why we won World War II,” says Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio President Lee Armstrong.

Many elderly veterans, some in wheelchairs, broke through the barriers set up around the memorial, as police, park service employees, and tourists looked on. “The Germans and the Japanese couldn’t contain us. They weren’t going to let barriers contain them today. They wanted to see their memorial,” says Armstrong.

Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio has a trip scheduled to depart from Toledo next Wednesday, October 9.

“We will make the call this Friday to determine if the flight is still a go, or if we will have to re-schedule,” Armstrong explains.

He says they are considering going ahead with the trip even if the government is still on shutdown, but when he called the parks service, he was told they would face arrest. “I said, are you kidding me? You’re going to arrest a 90/91-year-old veteran from seeing his memorial? If it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t be there. She said, ‘That’s correct sir.'”

When Armstrong asked for her name, he says she did not give it to him and then promptly hung up the phone.

99% of veterans on Honor Flights have never had the opportunity to see the memorial that is devoted to their service.

Through October, the are over 35,000 veterans scheduled to visit the site, more than 900 in the next five days alone.

It may all be waiting in limbo if the government can’t complete their job.

If these vets can “Storm the Beaches at Normandy”, what’s going to stop them? Some Parks Service bureaucrat in a “Smokie the Bear” hat? Yeah, RIGHT!

  2. Pam Woolbert says:

This is another time for Michele Bachmann to step up and escort these Veterans in. I also expect my Congressman , Doug La Malfa ,to be there with her. Let your Congressman know that you expect him/her to support this and be there also. Will they arrest Congress? That would be very interesting.

    • Rodney Levenduski says:

Michelle Bachmann? That disgrace to the American people? I wouldn’t let her near any of those brave men….. but you are right that our elected officials should show up and take a stand with them AS LONG AS WE DON’T LET ANY OF THEM TALK AND TRY AND MAKE IT A POLITICAL MOMENT.

      • Mark Kjellander says:

Rodney you must be drinking the kool aid again.. Why dont you just find a place to worship your obama, Bachmann has more guts than you do .

    • Marvin Standridge says:

Remember it is the Clinton’s and the Obama’s who hate the military and it is this President who cancelled the Day of Prayer and yet held it for and with the Muslims, and it is this President who uses his drama queen theatrical behavior to punish anybody who gets in his way of destroying this once great nation.

  3. Francis Winkeler says:

The vets, I believe, have a right to see their own memorial. Its a shame that too many in this country, especially politicians, don’t show them the respect they earned.

  4. Glenda Jolley says:

If they arrest these vets every citizen in America should storm Washington and take back our country. Enough is enough. They won’t arrest illegal aliens but they will arrest our brave vets. I don’t think so!!!!

    • Eva K-sson says:

      Well said!

    • Rodney Levenduski says:

      I agree!
Up until you said take back our country. Take it back from who?
Yes it is outrageous to do it but the little people at the bottom have to follow the law. I think that exceptions should be made for our veterans and if just one is arrested the people responsible for the government closure should be dragged out on the steps of the capital building and put to shame. But who wants to look at the silly smirks on the faces of all those Republicans.

      • Marvin Standridge says:

You Democrats are a piece of work, it is your President who said “I will not negotiate” and your Democratic Leader in the Senate who said “it is dead on arrival” and it is your President who used the crouch salute and it was his wife who said “all this for a damn flag” and it was your President who told the Arab World that we are not a christian nation and how wonderful the Muslims are and all they have done for the USA. (but couldn’t name one thing they have done)

        • Jessica says:

It is the Tea Party Republican’s that are holding a piece of legislature that has nothing to do with funding our government hostage before they will pass the funding legislature effectively shutting down the government. Place blame where blame is due. Obamacare has nothing to do with them funding the government!

          • Terry Roberts says:

why is a memorial that has not had a barrier before suddenly sprout one because of government shutdown. And since parks, etc. are closed means there should be no parks service there to arrest them, unless they are disregarding the mandate set up well over one hundred years.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

The democrats shut down the government simply to preserve THEIR Obamacare waivers. The same waivers they refuse to give to us. You can talk all that MSLSD B.S. you want b itch but it doesn’t make it true. Don’t you have more important things to do anyways? You probably need to kill another baby you and one of your Occupy crackheads produced in your rotten little womb.

          • Jessica says:

B itch? You say it like it’s a bad thing! I wear that badge proudly. The main function of Congress is to pass legislation that funds the Government. Obamacare is already funded. How is holding it hostage doing any good? Its in effect. Pick and choose your battles. Wait for Obama to get out of office. Oh wait, that’s right, that means you would have to give it a chance. 2nd, STICKS AND STONES @$$#0! € !!

          • bobby_gilbert says:

Jessica Bitch!, I hope to meet your a$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Jessica says:

I hope to meet you too Billy Bob!

          • Christine Dodd says:

I think Bobby Boy here is wanting to KILL your stupid ass BITCH!!

          • Jessica says:

539 Woodsong Way, Smyrna, GA. 30082 Bring it on! I’m not scared of any of you “internet wannabe gangsters”. BYOBB … “Bring Your Own Body Bag” if not I got a couple of trash bags to stuff you in… should feel right at home!

          • Drawer22 says:

@Jessica – I would feel pity for you were it not for the fact that you haven’t the foggiest notion of what the “…main function of Congress is…,” and it sure as shootin’ isn’t “…to pass legislation that funds the Government (sic)….” Before publicly embarrassing yourself further, you’d be best advised to read the Constitution of the United States of America, that document to which I’ve repeatedly sworn oaths of support.

          • Jessica says:

“The primary function of Congress is to pass rules that all Americans must obey, a function called lawmaking. Congress deals in a huge range of matters, from regulating television to “passing a federal budget” to voting on gun control.” provided by Wikipedia … What does a federal budget do? Glad you asked, IT FUNDS OUR GOVERNMENT!

          • Drawer22 says:

@Jessica – Now, you DO have my pity, for you have chosen not to educate yourself but, instead, post evidence of your continued ignorance and recalcitrance for reading our Constitution. It is NOT the primary function of our Representatives and Senators “…to pass rules that all Americans must obey, a function called lawmaking.” Nowhere in our Constitution does it enumerate that particular, specific responsibility. (I choose not to answer the rhetorical question you pose, inasmuch as you seem to believe you’ve answered it yourself. I would note that a budget has not been passed for quite some years, however, which indicates a Constitutional failure on the part of both the Executive and Legislative branches of our government.)

          • A.Bansk says:

the fact that wikipedia is her source… SMFH! As soon as you quote wikipedia as a source you’re done… just done. Cant take that person seriously anymore. Googling and reading an answer from wikipedia isn’t educating yourself any more than a word being real because its on urban dictionary. Seriously crawl under a rock now.

          • Christine Dodd says:

You are a very educated lady Ma’am and thank you!!

          • Christine Dodd says:

Guess you are so damn stupid you have to use a wikipedia link that is just used for low-life nitwits such as you to get your info.

          • Jessica says:

Guess you can’t come up with your own argument since you are just piggybacking on others arguments. Do you even know why you don’t like the bill other than the fact that Obama is black? Racist bitch!

          • John Troll says:

            hi “christine dodd”

          • Conservative_veteran says:

But its not “in effect” dumbass. At least not for Congress. They got a waiver. Its not in effect for the unions either. They got theirs too. Your douchecrats shut down the government to preserve their waivers, so it seems the only ones without them are us. I saw your little post about how you have “insurance” and just chuckled a little. I bet you your measly paycheck that you are on Obamacare within a year. And that you wind up finding that its about $537 bucks a month, which you cant afford, and instead you’ll get the $5k fine added to your tax bill. And when you don’t pay that..you lose your drivers license. If you don’t pay soon enough, they will then put a tax lien on your house..oh wait..you probably still live in the tent in the park with your boyfriend Poopy. But you get the idea. Obamacare is tyranny (you can google that word) I bet you wear that with pride too dumbass. Oh and GFY

          • Jessica says:

No, but it is in effect right now… and now you have 3 days less than 6 months to get some insurance to help you out with your mental health issues. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, millions suffer from low hormone levels that cause the problems that you have exhibited on this forum.

          • dshowell says:

amen to that preach man preach

          • Marvin Standridge says:

Obama Care is not funded it is passed as a law that your President is picking and choosing which parts he will enforce and to whom will have to join and pay.

          • Christine Dodd says:

HEY BITCH you have no fucking idea what the hell you are talking about so why don’t you take your little ill informed self and crawl back under that white trash trailer rock of yours and just shut your pathetic mouth!!

          • Jessica says:

Like I said before: Christine Dodd = low vocabulary, no proof in her argument, name caller … YOU HAVE NO LIFE! Go get one and quit trying to be a little internet gangster! It’s not working for you!

          • John Troll says:

          • Matthew John says:

HAHA the funny thing about your ignorance is that the Tea Party and Occupy want the same things just want to go about it in different ways. Uninformed people like you are sad.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

Riggggghhhttt douche. The tea party wants no borders, a $20 minimum wage and no debt for anyone anyplace like the wacko Occupy punks do? Do you maybe want to take that post down dumbass? I mean..do you know how stupid you sound right now?

          • Matthew John says:

Thanks! You once again proved how ill informed you are :D. The Original Occupy Movement has nothing to do with the insane things you wrote. You just believe everything you hear. Much like when the tea party folks are interviewed the media focuses on a crazy person. The FACTS ARE THIS The original Occupy Wall Street protesters wanted a better economic system, less government interference, an end to costly war, and a greater focus on privacy. But you wouldn’t know that because you clearly watch FOX. Oh and of course ONCE again thank you for proving that conservatives can’t do anything but turn to name calling. Yes, I am a douche when dealing with lesser minds.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

Yes you are a douche..on that we agree fully. I got a copy of the Occupy “demands” about a week after Obama and his thugs started the group. All the things I listed were in their list of demands. Wishing it isn’t so wont make it go away fat boy. Those were their demands. They even put it down on paper.

          • Christine Dodd says:

The occupy Wall Street Dirtbags you are so proud of were nothing but a bunch of low-life scumbags who were all wanting handouts from government. As for the TEA PARTY, they are the ones who wants less government more liberty better education for children less taxes. You Matthew are the one who is the ill informed voter who is so damn dumb that he plays on the computer all day and sits on his fat ass and collects a welfare check from daddy Obama.

          • Matthew John says:

More proof how uninformed and ignorant Conservatives are. Thanks for providing more proof! You are the best! You have this thing called the internet, you should use it so you don’t look so stupid. And maybe, since I am a small business owner and have been successful for years, I can donate to your mental health fund.

          • Jessica says:

You bring up welfare a lot. I’m guessing that since the biggest word you have used on this forum is Government that you are in fact the uneducated one receiving welfare!

          • John Troll says:

            want a twinkie tubbz

          • Jessica says:

WOW… I guess you must feel like the “big man” on campus with your limited grammar and vocabulary. You keep using insults because you know you can’t argue intelligently.

          • Christine Dodd says:

          • Matthew John says:

That shows what a winner you are 😀 The truth hurts? Yes, that is why you are so angry. Have a blessed day!

          • John Troll says:

            hey tons o’ fun

          • texray says:

            Drink your Koolaid.

          • Jessica says:

No, im a coca-cola kind of girl.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

That would explain the missing teeth.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

            Well..that and your meth habit….LOL

          • Jessica says:

Im sorry you have those afflictions and try to justify it by blaming it on others. I really hope obamacare can help you with your mental health and substance abuse.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

Nice try. Like I said before…come back and talk to me when your employer dumps your insurance and puts you on the Obamacare you cant afford. Then you’ll owe $5000 in taxes plus you’ll have no insurance. And of course the IRS will take your bank account, drivers license, and home if you have one and don’t pay soon enough. You can delude yourself and think this is all lies, but I think deep down inside you know this is all true. If you don’t, you will find out. The best thing about this law is after it goes into full effect, after your democrats have defended it time and again, they wont be able to get elected again in this country for 40 years and we will FINALLY be rid of you and them.

          • Jessica says:

Actually, I checked, a policy on the market exchange would actually be CHEAPER for me than the policy I have through my job. So nice try yourself. I actually looked into it, unlike yourself who is only opposed to it because it’s making you do something you should have already been responsible to do. Get insurance. so my premiums dont keep increasing by paying for care you wont.

          • Christine Dodd says:

You have a job??? Yeah right maybe a job working as a hooker or a strip club dancer from the way you are talking trash all the time.

          • Jessica says:

Well, a job is a job. Which I can say is more than you have in everyway possible. The biggest mistake you have made is thinking that what you say about me (without knowing me) affects me. I don’t care one way or the other what you have to say about me, my life or any aspect of me. However, I am extremely flattered that you can’t seem to get me off your pathetic mind. In the world of me, BITCH you are a NON MOTHERFUCKING FACTOR! Grow some balls and use that address up there … I dare you!

          • Jessica says:

BTW: You haven’t seen me talking trash yet, but believe me when you do, you can’t compete! I was merely stating my opinion in all of this. However, when it comes to you I can “hate” all day and hit the nail on the head every time. You wanna sit there and talk trash and name call through the computer like your a Boss! Bitch you aren’t shit! If you do use that address, be prepared… because I know something you don’t know… and that’s what my REAL JOB is, Bitch … <— That was me trash talking! Get some!

          • Jessica says:

Even if I ended up owing 5000, I would still get 2000 back. My annual refund is around 7000 each year… bet that burns you up!

          • Christine Dodd says:

You have such a way with words bitch so I advise you to watch what you say cause it could end up making you pay for it later on down the road. There are many people right now who are angry at the Democrats and Obama for their stupidity and you of all people are so damn ignorant that you are just making it more apparent that you are a low information voter who spends her days smoking or drinking getting checks from the government and sits on her ass all day playing mind games with guys. Get a life bitch.

          • Jessica says:

What??? Are you gonna do something? I put my address up there for you, bring it on …. Cum dumpster ass can’t fucking argue with her big girl panties on, has to resort to childish name calling… I bet when your father isn’t molesting you (I suspect he is from your childish mentality, that’s a dead give away) is when you get on here to trash talk others for their opinions to make your little cum collecting ass feel better, huh? Awwww… Did I hit a nerve? You gonna go sit in the corner and cry now… are you mad… Grow a pair and bring it on! Not scared of you or your veiled threats in any way shape or form. Sweetheart, I don’t drink, but thank you for pushing your afflictions off on me like your little cum squirter you are defending up there has done … Why is it all you can say to people who have a different opinion than you is name calling and character bashing? 2nd I don’t have to play mind games with guys, I’m married! However, from all the gushing your doing to every guy on here who has the same opinion as you think you do I’m guessing your just a googly-eyed little bobble headed 13 yr old who want’s to make them feel just like your Daddy makes you feel with his hands all over you! Get all the dicks out of your mouth and get yourself a life. You were a week late with all your little comments. No one here needs your help or wants your opinions which is why no one here has liked or disliked your comments!

          • Karen Kay says:

At this point I think all of the crazies that voted him into office and think Obamacare is so great should have to live with it for a year without complaint. The rest of us will check back with them and see how they like it after they have to live with it for a while. Let them be the guinea pig, so to speak :) The rest of us shouldn’t be subjected to this mess the Democrats have come up with and that’s what the Republicans stand for…the rest of us.

          • Matthew John says:

No, they stand for big business. Derp.

          • Jessica says:

I have insurance. I dont have to worry about being “forced” to get insurance. I am tired of my rates going up to fund all the uninsured getting treated.

          • Christine Dodd says:

          • Jessica says:

You’re a week late! Quit sucking everyone’s dick on here… it’s not going to make anyone in your actual life like you any better, Monica L. Get a life!

          • John Troll says:

            i see you fatty

          • Conservative_veteran says:

“A piece of legislature that has nothing to do with funding our government”…are you talking about the C.R. which funds the government..or Obamacare, which according to our Supreme Court is a TAX..which by definition funds the government? You really need to go back to your Xbox because you keep posting posts full of stupidity. I guess you aren’t even bright enough to be embarrassed that you are this ignorant. Are you that Jeannette girl who testified for punk-ass Trayvon? LOL

          • Jessica says:

No. That was your sister. Just because I dont agree with you doesnt make me ignorant. The fact you think that way makes you ignorant.

          • Jessica says:

It’s funny to me how often you bring up juvenile items, such as an xbox, drug use and stupidity. Makes me think that your testes haven’t quite dropped and your immaturity is showing through. When you can’t prove a point you resort to name calling! Weren’t you taught that when you “hate” on other people its really because those people posses qualities that you wish you had. I can at least say that I’m well-spoken and mature enough to have a debate in a public forum without acting like a pimply hormonal teenager. Speaking of, shouldn’t you be in school before your parents are brought up on truancy charges?

          • Marvin Standridge says:

A run away Government who is passing taxes on the American people (Obama Care) has every thing to do with this problem!

          • Freedomrequiresresponsibility says:

            DEMS are dumb.

Republican House sent THREE bills to the democrat Senate, Senate said no to all of them, EVEN THE ONE THAT FUNDED OBAMACARE COMPLETELY…..why did they vote against the obamacare funding? Because it also mandated that Congress and everyone else previously exempted must sign up for obamacare…….THE SENATE TURNED IT DOWN BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO BE SUBJECT TO OBAMACARE and you retards are still blaming the Republicans……. You are complete morons with absolutely no brain power whatsoever……..

          • Jessica says:

Its funny that you ASSUME im a democrat…

          • Christine Dodd says:

          • Jessica says:

Are those the only words in your vocabulary or are you trying to convince yourself that what you say is true? Your not convincing anyone of anything other than you are the low life on here who just supports by being someone that name calls. Your a little instigator, and when shit hits the fan, you’ll be one of the first to go cause your mouth is writing checks that your ass can’t cash!

          • Jessica says:

You are just on here trying to stir shit up because no one wants to actually converse with you in real life. You have chosen a side that you believe will benefit you in this forum as you view them as the “winning side” only, when they find out that they are paying your welfare check for you to sit on the internet and make your “feeble” attempt at supporting them, they will turn on you, because believe it or not, they are supporting themselves with a little more than name calling and trash talking … you wanna dance little girl? Just remember, “You mess with the bull, you get the horns” I can tit for tat all day with you, I can name call with the best of them, and I can guarantee that I’ll be a LOT more original with my names for you than you have been on the names you called me, cum dumpster!

          • scott says:

they are trying to defund obamacare and get it repealed, but all they want for now is to stall it for a year, they (republicans)know it is not able to be funded and not affordable at all.

          • dshowell says:

yes he does you dumb ass we don’t want Obama care at all if they fund part of it then we fund all of it. take obamacare down and u can be sure ass hell it will be funded and the shut down will be over

          • Christine Dodd says:

        • Matthew John says:

You are the most gullible poster here. You should be proud. Here is an idea, stop watching FOX.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

“Gullible” from the douche who voted for Obama twice…LMAO

          • Matthew John says:

HAHAHA ONCE again proving how ignorant you are! I voted Libertarian LOL@U. Please keep showing me how stupid conservatives are. You probably aren’t even a vet people like you steal honor all the time. And even if you are it is sad that you made it back to breed. I can only hope that if you do have kids and you are feeding them the same BS you are posting here they don’t live till 18.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

Im guessing you must have heard that Obamacare covers being obese and stupid and figured you had to get on it hun? You call me names and lie about voting for Presidouche while you cant even put down the cheeseburgers. Try taking a walk chubs, then you wont need Obamacare to cover your spare tire removal.

          • Matthew John says:

That’s it? That is all you got? I have bad news for you. A fake vet talking about my weight doens’t bother me one bit now would your wife, if you are married dying of breast cancer or your kids dying in a burning building. I have called you names, I have pointed out your ignorance, you simply can’t handle the truth. I don’t need insurance I have private insurance. I bet you get entitlements for being nuts. Fun times. A WARNING TO AMERICA!!!!!!! The Libertarians and political reality. please share.

            August 2, 2013 at 8:50pm

The republican party is being infiltrated, and the conservative
movement is being manipulate again, by libertarians that portrait
themselves to be conservatives and hold the same values as we’re.

Republican/Conservative/Libertarian can’t be place on the same banner,
as liberals are the far left, libertarians are the far right, both of
them seek in different direction the same thing, that will create chaos,
destruction and dead. Please pay attention to this writing, it’s
important if you do not want to loose what is left of your freedoms and
liberties. Remember Rand Paul follow his fathers steps and they want to
push him unto you… you must remember not about the filibuster, but
what he said in Cavuto couple of day’s later, changing the entire stand
he got in the Senate ” He believe to be ok to attack in the soil of USA
terrorist ” I wonder who decide who’s a terrorist and since under this
administration we patriots are, you know where the drones are direct
            too. ALL OF US.

            ARE REAL LIBERALS!

Thebest lack all conviction, while the worstAre full of passionate intensity…

In the second Snippet below, listen to Rep. Peter King
about how the Libertarian streak among Republicans will destroy the
party, handing America on a silver platter to the leftwing Democrats
running things, as we all know, sooooo, well now. The Libertarians,
contrary to what they would have you think, will be instrumental in the
destruction of the nation. It’s either them, or it’s America. Because
the Republican Party is not going away and it will not become an
ideologue Party with its platform based in fantasy. The Republicans and
the Founders no more share the values of Libertarians than they share
the values of the Far Left – as I will make clear right now.

are NOT, going back to the 19th century. We are not going back to the
middle of the 20th either – and do YOU, know anyone, who really wants to
            go there?

            You do?

see, Libertarian is just the other side of the Leftwing Democrat coin
that Jay Gaskill in his own brilliant way, and I in my simple way, had
warned you about for a decade. So had Ayn Rand, who had disassociated
herself from the Libertarians, even though many of her followers had not
even noticed; and even back in her days she knew they would become a
disaster-in-the-making: people who don’t really care about SAVING the
nation, but rather making common cause with the far left in promoting
            its destruction.

            THEIR MESSAGE IS?
            It’s that complex…
            And it’s that simple!

The far left and the libertarians agree on: DITTO!

The reduction of nuclear and conventional military arms.
The reduction of America’s armed forces.
The defunding of America’s intelligence apparatus.
The defunding of America’s diplomatic apparatus.
            The legalizing of recreational drugs.
            Ending the War on Drugs.
Not restricting the free flow of narcotics to minors.
            American Isolationism.
Removing American influence from areas of conflict.
            Limiting trade therein.
Putting restrictive taxes/policies on free trade.
Not supporting and collaborating with allies such as the UK, Australia, India, Singapore, Japan and Israel.
funding pro-democracy movements and forces in areas of potential trade
growth and in regions accruing long term military/security benefits for
America; and not funding costly drives to aid and encourage peaceful
            coexistence in conflict regions.

Julien Assange, Edward Snowden and Private Manning.
            National Security.
            Gay Marriage/Marriage Equality.
            Unlimited Abortion Rights.
Not restricting minor’s “choice” without their parent’s consent.
No restrictions of sex between minors and adults.
            9-11 Truffers.

            The Tin Hats ditto
each other on just about all things that mean anarchy, social
dissolution and political immaturity in dealing with world affairs.
            Satisfaction now, not later.

You will find that the most enthusiastic supporters of LEFTISM and
LIBERTARIANISM are youngsters and immature adults with neither
historical, world, nor actual life experience. In other words, most –
not all – are idealists and/or current or former drug users easily
            manipulated by their ideological seers.

There are ONLY three items the Republicans and Libertarians agree to promote:
            1. the 2nd Amendment
            2. small government
            3. private health care
The same three the left opposes.

For the most part Libertarians and the Far Left have made… common “cause” in the disguise of “integrity.”

If you had examined the libertarians more closely,

you’d find the Libertarian has the SAME ethos

as the 60’s hippie and today’s leftover Left:

            Make Love, Not War;
            I’m OK, You’re OK;
            Turn On and Drop Out.
            It’s not my Job.
            Punch the alarm clock.
            Go back to sleep.

And that, is why Bill Maher, Obama’s largest donor next to George Soros, called Ron Paul “my kind of conservative.”

He is correct, for the Libertarian only conserves the very same principles the Left promotes:

Human weakness and a citizenship free of duty and responsibility.

            And vision.

The political LEFT and the Libertarian are TWO SIDES OF THE VERY SAME COIN.

Now libertarians try to pass RP son as a ” conservative libertarian” no libertarian can be conservative, as islam can’t never be the “religion of peace” they do not blend… so the fact that you vote libertarian don’t tell us that you voted for the best of this Nation, just the opposite.

Some people has the tendency to learn systems of government, especially when they have live under dictatorship.

It’s no wonder why for so many libertarians BAMACARE is a great thing, their mentality is like the liberals mentality.

Matthew John, I must take offence to your comment bout bein sad that he made it back to breed, I myself served overseas for 5 years. I was wounded and am considered a war vet. This Conservative veteran’s opinion is his and his alone even though it is very well misinformed however if he is in fact a war vet then we should not be sad he made it back to breed but perhaps smply be sad for him not knowing where to look to be properly informed before coming onto a forum and insulting everyone on here with outrageous claims. Obamacare is a health care plan to make the USA step up and hopefully move closer to the way Canada handles their health care system. I think it is a great idea because without health care people would still be dyin whether they were overseas or not. No matter where people are they still get sick. Obamacare is a program that will ensure the health and safety of all people affected by it. It’s not just for some people but for all people.

PinocchiObama is a great one for taking credit for things he hasn’t done. Why doesn’t he “belly up to the bar”, and take responsibility for his shutdown. He’s the one who refuses to negotiate with the Republicans. He is operating on the liberals’ mantra; i.e., “Don’t Confuse Me With The Facts~My Mind’s Made Up”>

“Nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely related with this”. Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955)

“Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it”. Albert Einstein

        • Jessica says:

Facts are: 1 Obamacare is not tied to funding the government. Tea Party Republicans are holding a piece of legislature that is already in place before funding the government hostage. All have said they would pass a “clean” Funding bill. Now is not the time for them to be trying to do away with Obamacare. Right now they should be worried about funding our government and raising the debt ceiling before dealing with Obamacare and definitely before our “emenies” decide to take action against us while we are shutdown.

          • Mr Keith Charles Johnson says:

Your “facts” are not factual. Where in the name of all that’s holy do you believe funding for Obamacare is generated? Everything is tied to government funding. Here we go again with this “Tea Party” nonsense. There is NO Tea Party. Try to find them on your ballot at the polls. That is if you bother to vote. If you do you would know that there is no “Tea Party”. It’s an ideology, it’s not a party! The present funding bill that’s being ping-ponged back and forth between the the two houses of Congress is THE funding bill, and the Republicans passed everything with the exception of the Affordable Care Act. Your Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama is so parochial and narcissistic that he will not budge, and he said that he will not negotiate with the Republicans. Therefore, it is Barack Hussein Obama’s shutdown pure and not so simple. The WWII Memorial is an outside open area which is open to the public 24/7, and their are no gates. The blockades had to be brought in at an added expense which was absorbed by the taxpayers. The police to patrol the area is an additional expense. I thought that the shutdown was because there was no funding. How is that the WH felt that there was funding to punish our World War Two veterans who fought to preserve our freedoms? Is it because the Obama administration is peppered with sadists who want to cause the most pain to make a point?

          • Jessica says:

I know funding for obamacare is already in place and has nothing to do with the funding legislation that is their responsibility to do right now. Which is why, even with the government shut down, obamacare is moving forward and in effect. Holding it hostage right now isn’t doing any good. Try again when Obama is out of office. I already have insurance fully paid for by my employer. I don’t need obamacare. I don’t have an interest one way or the other right now if it passes or not. Simply put, congress needs to do the main job it was created for and fund the government! Also “Tea Party” was used as an adjective to describe the republican. I know Tea Party isn’t on the ballot. Nit picker, must feel real good to bully others about their opinion.

          • Drawer22 says:

@Jessica – Pointing out faux-“facts” which aren’t remotely related to truth is hardly bullying anyone about an opinion. By the way, yours have BO!

          • Jessica says:

A poll released Thursday provided confirmation of what’s long been anticipated: more Americans blame Republicans — not President Barack Obama and Democrats — for the first government shutdown since 1996. Argue with that!

          • Jessica says:

Also, if Obamacare isn’t in place how come the Market Place opened October 1st just as it was intended to? I mean geez, would have thought if you were gonna use something as a bargaining chip you would have used something that they want to go forward that can’t until they pass the budget. Obamacare is underway …

          • Jessica says:

If you mean “body odor” by BO; I would like to take this time to politely point out … The closest thing to your nose is your upper lip. If your smelling something funky, I’d check there first. “Remove the log from your own eye before removing the splinter from someone else’s eye!”

          • Teresa Belcher says:

28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States”.
Therefore their “waver” goes against the constitution. Also, don’t kid yourself that your insurance premium won’t go up just because everyone is going to be required to have insurance. They have to have a way to make up the money they are losing to the affordable insurance. Not to mention that the orthopedic business is being slammed with a tax that is now costing people their jobs because they are being layed off so these orthopedic business can pay this tax.

          • Ferd says:

You might want to research that 28th amendment a little. It doesn’t exist (yet).

          • Mr Keith Charles Johnson says:

Now who’s nitpicking, and calling me names doesn’t make your case any stronger.
ad ho·mi·nem [ad hom-uh-nuhm -nem, ahd?]

            1. appealing to one’s prejudices, emotions, or special interests rather than to one’s intellect or reason.

            2. attacking an opponent’s character rather than answering his argument.

The word is defund which means allocating no more money to Obamacare. When your employer, who is no longer able to afford the premiums, cuts you off or wants you to pay some of the premium you’ll be changing your opinion. If Obamacare is so great why aren’t the president, his family, Congress and the Supreme Court justices enrolled in the program. Also Obama’s major supporters such as the labor unions are exempted. Until our leaders treat us as equals in this debacle they are culpable of being elitists.

Dems Admit They Want to Prolong Shutdown
            Posted on October 3, 2013

Liberals are gambling that they won’t be blamed for the
shutdown. They think they have the GOP over a barrel when the truth is people are sick of big government.
            Check it out:
Rep. Nunes: Democratic congressmen tell me privately they want to prolong shutdown Two days into the government shutdown in Washington, D.C., and there is still no end in sight.
The good news: Both sides actually met at the White House Wednesday. The bad news: All they did was butt heads.
Many right wing Republicans seem to have all their chips on defunding the Affordable Health Act, so-called Obamacare, and are refusing to budge.
Republican Congressman Devin Nunes, who said the shutdown is bad for the GOP and has publicly criticized his party for what he calls a “silly” strategy, said the shutdown gives Democrats a political advantage.
“The Democrats are giddy about this behind closed doors. I mean, they think that this is going to give (House Minority Leader) Nancy Pelosi back the gavel,” said Nunes. “They’re very cocky, very confident.”

She is correct the funding is already in place. The GOP wanted to repeal the funding. Like it or not it is LAW. Blame PRESIDENT Obama all you want it will always be the Republicants who tried to repeal it 41 times.

😀 It isn’t going anywhere. Republicans will never have a President in office again and I will enjoy every second of it.

          • Conservative_veteran says:

Yours wont survive this term, and his healthcare law will cost you the Senate and the WH and you damn well know it douche.

          • Mr Keith Charles Johnson says:

“The will of the people is the only legitimate
foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object”.

Obama Never Intended Obamacare to Happen

In a wave of scandals put forth from the Obama administration, Americans are now learning that Obamacare, the revolutionary universal
health care law that helped Obama win the presidency two terms in a row, was actually meant to be an empty promise.

In January 2007, nearly two years before Obama won his first presidential election, his infant campaign needed something to legitimize its candidate.

Obama had been offered a slot to speak at a major health care conference sponsored by a liberal organization, Families USA. While Obama wanted to turn down the appearance, his aides, Robert Gibbs and Jon Favreau, told him that making a promise to such a broad entity of
the economy would make him appear more credible to voters.

What was that promise, you ask? Obama announced he would pass a universal health care law during his first term as President of the United States.

The promise of a future Obamacare hit the liberal media and sailed him into the Oval Office. But his former aides are now telling the media, it was all fabrication.

“We needed something to say,” one aide commented. “I can’t tell you how little thought was given to that thought other than it sounded good. So they just kind of hatched it on their own. It just happened. It wasn’t like a deep strategic conversation.”

RELATED: House Votes to Fund Government, Defund Obamacare

The problem with this empty promise was that it actually had to be carried out. The lack of “deep conversation” led to a mishandled harmful bill, the Affordable Care Act, which beginning Oct. 1, will destroy the economy and the checkbooks of every hard working American.

When most people make empty spontaneous promises, they don’t land in the White House. Let this be a lesson to every American voter.

Can you believe Obamacare was a ploy to make Barack Obama look legitimate?

21 Impeachable Offenses By President Barack Hussein Barack Obama

The Obama campaign provided donor lists to ACORN in 2007 and 2008, more
complete than the ones he provided to the FEC. ACORN used the lists to
raise money for Obama’s election from donors who had already maxed out
            their legally allowable contributions.

Widespread voter fraud including voter intimidation, ballot stuffing,
falsified documents, and threats of violence against Hillary Clinton
supporters committed by the Obama campaign and ACORN during the 2008
Democrat primary election. Obama smoothed this over by giving Hillary
the high position of Secretary of State.

Obama’s refusal to release a valid long form birth certificate. I used
to not think there was any validity to this claim, but since Arizona
Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse exposed that Obama’s birth
certificate on the White House website is a forgery, it is pretty
convincing the President still owes us that valid birth certificate.
Obama’s college records, which have also not been released, may also
contain information regarding his dual citizenship status.

Protecting union interests over those of GM and Chrysler bond holders
during bankruptcy proceedings, forcing investors to accept millions of
dollars in losses in direct violation of bankruptcy laws, money to which
            they were legally entitled.

Preferential treatment given to minority and women owned car
dealerships by Obama administration officials as part of the auto
industry bailout program and the forced closing of a disproportionate
number of rural dealerships located in areas that did not vote for
Obama. There was a Chrysler dealer in our town that was closed for no
            valid reason during that time.

Moving control of the Census Bureau from the Commerce Department
directly into the White House where used to be managed by Chief of Staff
            Rham Emmanuel.

Unsubstantiated firing of Corporation for National and Community
Service Inspector General Gerald Walpin for exposing Sacramento Mayor
and Obama supporter Kevin Johnson’s misuse of an $850,000 AmeriCorps

Purchase of Congressional support for the passage of Obama’s healthcare
bill including the “Cornhusker Kickback”, “Louisiana Purchase” and
having the Department of Interior increase water allocations to the
Central Valley of California to secure the votes of Democrat Reps.
            Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa.

Lying to the American people by promising they could keep their
healthcare coverage if they wanted to, when in reality tens of millions
will be forced out of their current plans.

Directing the EPA to unilaterally set carbon emission standards,
bypassing Congress which opposes Obama’s energy reform bill.

During the Gulf oil spill, the Obama administration’s statement that a

Obama’s policy of intentionally not securing our nation’s borders, in
opposition to Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution which calls for

Department of Justice illegal race based policies regarding voter fraud

the dropping of voter intimidation charges against 2 Black Panthers
brandishing weapons in front of a voting location in Philadelphia and
the stated intention by political appointees to ignore voter crimes

constitutional obligation to vet presidential appointees means nothing
to Obama. The same can be said of the 30+ Obama administration czars.

Spending $23 million of taxpayer money through the U.S. Agency for
International Development (USAID) to support a constitutional referendum

Investigations by the Department of Homeland Security to determine the

And of course the 2 biggies:

A federal operation dubbed Fast and Furious allowed weapons from the
U.S. to pass into the hands of suspected gun smugglers so the arms could
be traced to the higher echelons of Mexican drug cartels. The Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which ran the operation, has
lost track of hundreds of firearms, many of which have been linked to
crimes, including the fatal shooting of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry
            in December 2010.

The terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi Libya that killed 4
Americans including Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Stevens is the
first US Ambassador killed in the line of duty since 1979. Despite
knowing almost immediately that this was a terrorist attack, the Obama
administration has denied that fact, repeatedly lied, held back
information and set up false stories as to what actually happened there.

If Obamacare is fully funded we will never get rid of it. Think IRS.. that was temporary too.

          • Jessica says:

They could defund it later and appropriate the funds into other causes. It doesn’t have to happen right now. Let’s get the budget in place first, then argue immaturely about the debt, then Obamacare can be attacked. That was my whole point in posting. The shutdown was unnecessary.

          • Karen Kay says:

There hasn’t been a budget in over 5 years. The Republicans have presented four different options that were flat out rejected in the last three days, and the last one only asked for the same one year delay on Obamacare that corporations and special interest have been granted. Does that sound like there is a spirit of cooperation coming from the Democrats? I’m just as sick of all of this mess as the next person but I refuse to just go along to get along and I hope some of those that are supposed to be representing the people actually step up and do so. There are principals that this country was founded on and they are being steadily chipped away. I believe that at some point there has to be a stand, and if not now, when?

Time Line of Continuing Resolution Debate:

Friday, 9/20/13 – The House of Representatives passed a Continuing Resolution that would fully fund the government (including things that Republicans don’t like) while at the same time defunding Obamacare.
Result: House Republicans compromised on spending that we’d like to see cut in exchange for defunding Obamacare.

Friday, 9/27/13 – The Senate stripped the defunding language out of the House passed Continuing Resolution and sent it back to the House.
Result: Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refused to compromise.

Saturday, 9/28/13 – The House of Representatives added two amendments to the Senate revised Continuing Resolution to delay Obamacare for one year (far from what we were originally willing to
agree to) and repeal the medical device tax.
Result: House Republicans compromised away from
defunding to delaying Obamacare for one year.

Monday, 9/30/13 – The Senate stripped the two amendments from the House passed Continuing Resolution and sent it back to the House.
Result: Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refuse to
        compromise one inch on Obamacare.

Monday, 9/30/13 – The House of Representatives responded by adding language to the Continuing Resolution to delay the individual mandate for a year and to take away the health care subsidies Members of Congress and their staffs received
from the Office of Personnel Management ruling earlier this year.

Result: House Republicans compromised away from
delaying Obamacare for one year to delaying the individual mandate for a year and requiring that Congress live under Obamacare just like the rest of the American people.

Monday, 9/30/13 – The Senate voted to table the House passed continuing resolution.
Result: Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refused to compromise.

Monday, 9/30/13 – The House appointed conferees and sent a message to the Senate requesting a conference meeting to resolve their differences. Result: House Republicans were still willing to
        compromise and reach a solution.

Tuesday, 10/1/13 – Midnight – No Deal is reach and a temporary shut down begins.

Tuesday, 10/1/13 – The Senate votes to table the House’s request for a conference to resolve differences.

Tuesday, 10/1/13 – House of Representatives moves to start passing single authorization appropriation bills that need 2/3rds majority in the House for passage.Result: House Democrats refuse to compromise on paying Veterans Assistance, National Park Service, and Washington, DC Operations.

      • Christine Dodd says:

Travis, God bless you!! Now that is what I call true patriotism. Yes we all need to stand united and tell the politicians in DC that we Americans will not tolerate this type of treatment to our Veterans and Military who gave everything they had to fight for this country and then be booted out from seeing a memorial in their honor of their fellow comrades. I can still remember the days following after 9/11 when everyone regardless of their political party joined together to help the first responders and rescue personnel to locate survivors of the twin towers and also prepared food and brought water and other supplies to help. America united as one that day and we can do it again to show these politicians that we stand as one and will stand by these Veterans.

If an “order” comes down to arrest a single VET at that memorial just for merely being there, I fully expect a civil riot on their hands, is everyone really ready for that?!

    • Marvin Standridge says:

  14. Nam1 says:

Perhaps citizens in and around DC should escort these great patriots along with as many of our congressmen and congresswomen so they can gain access to a memorial that was spawned by their sacrifices, and those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Continued denial of entry to a place our nation built in their honor is nothing short of cowardice.

    • Jactelit2 says:

Again, this memorial was build by private donations and the Enterprise pays for the Parks Services to provide up keep and security. This is nothing to the Government These fees have already been paid for the year>

      • Nam1 says:

Which makes it even more disgusting that these people willingly use these aging vet’s as pawns for purely political reasons, it’s just a crying shame.

As a disabled Vietnam veteran, I am pissed.People let them know in no uncertain terms that this shit is stopping NOW!!

I think the Park Service’s budget is a little too bloated if they have the time and personnel available to block our vets from their monument,t that had no previous barriers. Sounds like some “non-essentials governmentals” are still on the clock.

  24. Noah Wilson says:

Should read “flies” not “flys”. While it is unfortunate that national monuments and memorials will be barricaded while the federal government is shut down, you must ask yourself why it is shut down. Why is our government being held hostage because a political party can’t do its job? The Tea Party and current elected officials have given a ridiculously bad reputation to the Republican cause. The current representatives have made it virtually impossible for anything to be accomplished in Washington. Compare to the first two years of Obama’s administration when he had a Democrat controlled congress and look at all the things that passed. As Maddow said, we have “wall street reform, student loan reform, credit card reform, health care reform , obviously, the fair pay act, expanding of the GI bill , they reauthorized the children’s health insurance program, expanded national service programs, we got the hate crimes act , the s.t.a.r.t. treaty between US and Russia on nuclear weapons. they repealed don’t ask, don’t tell, they did the cash for clunkers, the stimulus, which included the greatest middle class tax cuts ever”, and while you may gripe over certain aspects of all that, please mention ONE significant piece of legislature that’s been accomplished since the Republicans have taken control. That’s what was accomplished in the first two years as opposed to the most recent three years. It’s a joke. And traditional Republican beliefs are not the extreme illogical goals they’ve displayed in recent years.

    • alan says:

@Noah Wilson….”we got the hate crimes act”….unless the hate crimes are commited against blacks it isn’t a hate crime. look at all the black on white crimes over the last few months….you are a freaking moron and need to stop drinking the kool-aid

Republicans. He is operating on the liberals’ mantra; i.e., “Don’t
Confuse Me With The Facts~My Mind’s Made Up”. He also relies on, “Teamwork Is Essential~It Allows You To Blame Someone Else”. Our veterans fought and died protecting the freedoms that allow him to make his ignorant decisions, and tell his lies.

  27. Paul Whitfield says:

The WWII Memorial is outdoors and has never, ever had barriers around it. Why are there barriers now, other than to make a political statement? These Veterans deserve far more from our political representatives than to be used as pawns.

I have called both my Senators and my Representative and I urge everyone to do the same regardless of your political affiliation. Just Google Senate/House Representatives for your state and dial the number; a staffer or voice-mail will answer.

-Tell them you expect them to support the Honor Flights!
-Remind them of the sacrifices made by these Veterans for their country and the world!
-Remind them the WWII Memorial is outdoors and requires NO funding!

    • Christal Brown Richards says:

Most of congress itself (republicans and democrats) are the ones who have been going out there to make sure they did not try to arrest the vets. The first day, the congressman that represented the area the first honor flight came in, was indeed the one who cut the tape and knocked the barriers aside because he was so pissed off about it. Bachmann and them came down there too on the first day. 10-2 was members from both parties. Obama’s people are picking “prime political targets” to close because they want everyone to feel this. the man is a piece of s@#$ in my book.

Stay on schedule! Never back down, do not comply! The Memorial is for them, This may be the only time some of them can make it. Maybe the next schedule they will already have moved on to God! This (p)resident is out of control! Take our Country back! Show them the reason why you are the Greatest Generation! Thank you all and God Bless! Hope you all get to see what was build in your honor!

  32. Conservative_veteran says:

I think its time we get the 2 million bikers to join with about 10 million of us, and we all go surround the White House. This is what its going to take. We are going to have to remove the douche.

  33. Steve Urkel says:

Not the presidents fault, it’s congresses fault. I say everyone take the day off and back these heroes up! I’m 3 hours away and will make the trip if needed.

    • Christal Brown Richards says:

Umm, actually, the orders to close it off, then re-enforce the barricades the next day, came DIRECTLY FROM THE WHITE HOUSE. This was Obama’s OBM, under his people’s direct advisement, and they KNEW those trips were scheduled, so ya congress shut down the government, but OBAMA specifically target this event.

  34. Shirley Reynolds Nelson says:

This is ridiculous. It is an open air memorial that was built by indiviual contributions and does not shut down or have gates at any time of the year. Why now? I am disgusted with the Democrats, especially our president behind this and not real sure about the republicans either.

  35. Tim Allen says:

I never knew about Honor Flight, but now, it is my only charity that I will support. Thank you veterans !

  36. Mark Rushing says:

You let these communist idiots touch one hair on the head of one WWII Veteran and we will destroy Washington D.C. along with every communist in it. You idiots want a war? We will give you one real quick if you keep pushing. We have had enough of this political correctness stupidity along with the refusal to name our enemies while you target Americans and call patriots and our founding fathers terrorists and Mohammed a “Social Reformer” I’s out, I will not support or aid this government any longer and will do everything I can to ensure that we are returned to the Republic for which we stand.

  37. texray says:

An Affirmative Action twinkie, “Just following orders”. The trouble with WWII Vets, is, there’s just not enough of them left.

  38. Veronica Bright says:

Story is outdated. The Vets now have permission to visit the memorial.

  39. Pegi Ackerman says:

This is an outrage. It never would have probably been erected, if not for the WWII Vets……………let them have some joy out of the remainder of their lives. Some of these WWII Vets probably have not much else to help them to remember. I know several Vets from that war, and other wars. My husband is a Viet Nam War Vet. The ones who are preventing these men or women to see the Memorial, need their heads examined, by a Dr. who knows what he is doing………………….I guess I had not say anymore….I don’t know how to quit………..God Bless the WWII Vets, their families, and all Vets, n o matter the War they served in.

  40. MsSideswipe says:

  42. MonkeyFace says:

This is nothing more than a political stunt by Obama and his lackeys in an attempt to make the GOP House members look like the bad guys.

Most of these memorials do not have or need security people, so they represent a very low cost to the taxpayers, and hence shouldn’t be subjected to shutdown “austerity” measures. World War II veterans are the reason this memorial exists and the reason the USA is number one. If these men and women hadn’t stepped up to the plate when duty called back in 1941 there’d be nothing to memorialize.

This whole “shut down the national parks” routine is a crock!

  43. MsgtGdubb says:

I am interested in what Tom Hanks, would say about this atrocity. He spent many hours and a lot of his own money getting funding for this memorial.

  44. Lupe Llinet says:

If these veterans are arrested every AMERICAN should go to DC and i mean everyone and protest… imagine millions of people showing up to DC. A peaceful protest does not have to turn violent and we have such right to do a peaceful protest. It will absolutely bring attention to the issue.
To even think of arresting these brave men, is disgusting, totally unacceptable, and very low of the government. The President has the right to over right such, and he needs to step to the plate on this one.

  45. Deborah Teresa Sears says:

oh hell is anybody looking at what the fight is about or just who wont cave in? an out of hand government doing as it please whenever it wants putting an executive stamp on all he can when everybody is out of the way.. hell I hope they keep it shut down and the people just crash the gates whereever the hell they want no different than the president of our country doing as he pleases. at the very least we know if we were born in this country and work we own those damn parks and memorials and nobody should stop anyone from being there! the hell with you democrats and all the cronies ought to go the hell home..

  46. Harold Oxberger says:

Brian After i read this, i took it to show my Father, who lives only a few houses away from me. My Father is going to be 90 yrs old in November and during WW2, he was in the Royal Navy, serving on LCT’s. ( Landing Craft Tank ). He is a member of the Normandy Veterans Association due to on June 6th 1944, he took part in Operation Overlord, landing troops and tanks onto the Normandy beaches. Not being able to get onto Sword beach, his ship was sent to land on Omaha beach and he went in with the second wave. The memory of having to sail through the bodies of the American troops lying in the water and the sight of so many dead and dying on the beach, still lives with him to this day. He finished the war in the Far East, where one of his last jobs was to bring the British and American prisoners of war down river from the Japanese prison camps. I am the only person he has ever talked to about what he saw them as it still greatly upsets him. He is just 1 person in many, who saw first hand, the sacrifice the American people made on the beaches of France and the jungles of Asia. When i showed him what the American Government had done to your Veterans, he was totally disgusted and swore alot. ……. Harold, if you ever have the chance to talk to the arseholes who did this, please tell them that they not only insulted American Veterens, but also their Allied Veterans who are thousands of miles away. I’d also like to make known my disgust and the word Outrage goes nowhere near the way i feel about it.

As a high school teacher I have seen the gamete of racism from someone running into my class yelling “The niggers are starting a fight in the gym” when no one was in the gym, to a black student walking out of my class the first day of a school year because there were no other blacks in the class. I have had mandatory sensitivity sessions to deal with my own bias feelings that I was unaware of and I was threatened by a group of black male students in their neighborhood because I insisted on driving a female student home after a band concert (yes, she was black and as a parent I was not going to let her walk home at midnight by herself). So I have some experience in seeing overt and hidden color prejudice. I have seen blatant lies used to stir up problems as in my first example to assumed misinformation as in my last example. Now I always try and fight racism when I see it in my presence. Mostly words on FaceBook and example when in person. But one thing I have learned through the years is that if people hate they will believe anything, true or not, to foster that hate. I thought to olist the names of the obvious “haters” at this point but realize that is counter productive. I’ll leave you with this: May America always be a symbol of Freedom for all people regardless of color, religion, gender or ethnic background. May you all have equal access to every freedom we all should enjoy and may no one deny any of you “the pursuit of happiness”. Please keep in mind though, that every “right” is guaranteed by “We the People” to each other and that a “right” does not extend to the point of denying another “We the People” of their “rights”. May the God of Abraham Bless you, may the Earth Mother love you always and may ‘The Force be With You’.

I’ve been to the WWII Memorial twice. There were no barriers to entry, no gates, just an open entry. Why are there barriers now? Who, in a supposed time of shutdown, made the decision to spend money to erect barriers? Amazing.

An open letter to President Obama

Posted on October 3, 2013 by The Matt Walsh Blog

    Dear President Obama,

You strike me as the sort of man who spends a lot of time staring at his own reflection. I wonder, what do you see when you gaze so admiringly at yourself? What image do you find in that mirror of yours? Let me guess: a graceful Greek god with a golden crown, draped in luxurious robes, perched on a giant, magnificent throne atop a mountain in the sky? You see a throng of angels singing your praises and masses of subservient peasants prostrated before you, trembling with fear and awe? You see a man who is more than a man, and a president who transcends the presidency; you see a historic figure of immortal importance?

Yeah, that’s what I thought, and I can’t blame you, Mr. President. By all accounts, you’ve always been an arrogant, haughty narcissist — and that was before you became president. Your supporters and your enemies may argue over whether you descended from heaven on the back of a Pegasus, or were birthed from the bowels of Hell to bring about a Biblical apocalypse, but they both agree on one thing: you are a figure of great significance and immense power. You are either the anti-Christ or the Second Coming, with no room for anything in-between. Surely, this talk might cause even a humble man to slip into a state of vanity and pride, so I can only imagine what it must do to a man such as yourself, already so aloof and so conceited.

That’s why I’m writing this letter. My impression of you is quite different, and it has only been solidified by your performance during this shutdown/Obamacare debate. I find you to be a very small man, Mr. President. Far from larger than life, you are petty, frivolous, pathetic; sneering and pompous but also trifling and narrow. I don’t mean to dismiss or underestimate the damage you have done to this nation — it has certainly been profound and lasting — but I want you to know that your legacy will not be one of grandeur and brilliance; it will be the legacy of a shameless, desperate bully. Both your opponents and your proponents hoist you up as a world leader with a grand vision, whether benevolent or malevolent. I, on the other hand, believe you have the vision of a temperamental two year old. You simply want to feel like you’re in control; you want to “win,” you want everybody in the room to pay attention to you, and you’ll stomp your feet and whine until you get your way. You govern like a coddled toddler; it’s inappropriate to pejoratively refer to you as a “dictator,” but only because it lends you a certain unwarranted credibility. I think you wish to be a dictator, but instead you’re just a bumbling bureaucrat; easily replaced and even more easily forgotten. You have the ethics of Genghis Khan, but the leadership skills of Michael Scott. This is why we are forced to witness the spectacle of, for instance, our president brazenly threatening to invade another nation for no reason, only to clumsily abandon the idea after being publicly spanked by Putin.

Your legacy, Mr. President, will be defined by small, shameful things, as your presidency has been primarily a succession of small, shameful things. The platitudes you spouted during your campaign — the theatrics, the pomp, the hype — have all faded. Replaced by the scheming partisan machinations that have come to define your tenure.

Every president has a moment that encapsulates their time in office; your moment, Mr. President, happened this week. Sure, future generations will look at you with mockery and scorn because of bigger scandals — Benghazi, the IRS targeting conservatives, Obamacare, the birth control mandate and your attacks on religious liberty, spying on journalists, arming terrorists overseas, Fast and Furious, the green energy scams, the bailouts, your support for infanticide, the billions you’ve given to the abortion industry, your cowardice in refusing to address the Gosnell murders, your reckless exploitation of the Zimmerman trial, the out of control deficit spending, your refusal to enforce immigration laws, the massive expansion of the Welfare State, the lies, the broken promises, etc — but I think, in an understated way, what you’ve done this week is a better microcosm of your entire reign.

I’m not just referring to the fact that you are peddling the lie that “Republicans” have “shutdown the government,” when, in fact, they have attempted to pass several bills that would fund the government. Mr. President, you tell these fables to the trained seals in the media and your voting base, but you know damn well that any American with a capacity for critical thought will roundly reject this absurd narrative. YOU have chosen to “shut down” the government because you have made Obamacare the ultimate priority. You have said, “Obamacare or nothing,” and then accused Republicans of being the “hostage takers.” They are holding the government hostage by trying to fund it? What a silly idea. But then, you are a silly, ridiculous president. Speaking of which, this takes us right to your defining moment: barricading memorials and monuments in a ploy to win an argument.

Comparatively insignificant when stacked up against your war crimes and constitutional infringements, but it is nonetheless an apt illustration. The Lincoln Memorial is just a giant statue. There isn’t any reason why people shouldn’t be able to look at a statue during a government shutdown. In past shutdowns, the memorials were open, with only the information centers closing down. The Lincoln Memorial has never been completely closed off from the public until now. You have decided to spend money to block and guard open-air monuments, when it would be cheaper, require less staff, and be less onerous to simply leave them be. Is this some sort of bizarre punitive measure against the American taxpayer?

Infamously, you even attempted to stop WW2 veterans from visiting the WW2 memorial. That memorial is mostly privately funded, and is open 24 hours a day. You SPENT MONEY to physically guard the monument from a group of elderly war veterans. This is truly unprecedented. We have had horrible presidents in the past, but none quite so shallow, cheap and contemptible. You tried to close down Mt. Vernon, which is privately funded, but had to settle for closing its parking lot — even though the parking lot requires no immediate on-going maintenance or surveillance from any federal workers. Did you have to shut down the Normandy cemetery and memorial? Are we saving money that way? I doubt it.

It’s the same game you played during the sequester, and it comes as no surprise to those of us who pay attention (which means it came as a surprise to large number of people). Rather than leading like a statesman, you hide in the shadows; scheming, conniving, exploiting. You emerge only to make hyper-partisan speeches, with rhetoric best left to Democratic talking heads on afternoon cable news shows. Far from being a “new kind of politician” (as you were advertised), you are the most political politician this country has ever seen. You are political to your core, in your essence, at an atomic level, and so you are unable to offer any direction or clarity when the nation needs it most. Sometimes, Mr. President, the affairs of this nation require a man, not a politician, and it is during those times that you are especially useless. You don’t have any interest in fixing our present crisis because you’re too busy finding ways to keep a busload of 90 year old war veterans from looking at a memorial.

Closing down parks, monuments and memorials just to score political points is hardly your most insidious deed, but it’s certainly one of your pettiest. That’s why it stands, ironically, as a monument of its own. If we ever build a statue of you, Mr. President, you won’t be triumphantly holding a flaming torch like Lady Liberty, or standing authoritatively with a look of determination, like the MLK memorial. No, it will be a statue of you pulling the wings off of a fly, or spitting in someone’s orange juice. It will show you in your essence, as monuments are meant to do. It will show you as a petulant, skulking, juvenile bully. It will you show you as you are.

And we’ll make sure it’s always open, especially during a government shut down.
