Marine Vet Kept Off Rugby Team – American Military News

Marine Vet Kept Off Rugby Team

Ryan Martin is a Marine veteran and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan following his high school graduation in 2006. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a Combat Distinguishing Device for Valor in addition to a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.

Following his time in the Marines, he enrolled in the University of Massachusetts and he fell in love with the game of rugby. Now he is entering his senior year, and USA Rugby has ruled he is ineligible to play this season. Why? Because he graduated from high school 7 years ago, thus maxing out his collegiate rugby eligibility.

This rule is trash, is discriminatory against almost all veterans and it MUST be changed!
